High energy. Incredible chemistry. Fun. These are just some of the phrases one might use to describe the pop rock band Dazy Head Mazy and their live show. The Minneapolis-based group has been busy turning venues into all-out parties since 1996, playing over 100 shows a year across the US. Composed of Will Bauermeister (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Ben Wilinski (mandolin, guitar, vocals),Eric Moe (bass) and Jason Lyles (percussion, drums), Dazy Head Mazy has shared the stage with such acts as OAR, the Gin Blossoms, 7 Mary 3 and Semisonic, among others. Whether the lively foursome is playing at a college campus, a charity event, or one of the top venues in the country, their goal is to always make sure the audience has as much fun as they do.
With an interesting blend of eye-opening pop and soothing melodic vocals, Dazy Head Mazys infectious tunes have often been compared to that of Hootie and the Blowfish, the Barenaked Ladies, Sister Hazel and the Dave Matthews Band. Their first full-length album, They're All Wearing Pearls, has sold over 10,000 units to date, and their second LP, Shift, was named Best Pop Album in 2000 by the Independent Music Awards. The bands latest release, Acoustic Cities, promises to be their best work yet, with soothing, acoustic-driven pop rock that can only be described as classic Dazy Head Mazy.
Though they have recorded four studio albums, received numerous awards and nominations, and played with some of the biggest bands in alternative rock, Dazy Head Mazy remains a group of guys who just love music and love to play it. Their energetic live show and honest, roosty pop songs have entertained audiences for a decade, and theres no reason for them to back down now.
Dazy Head Mazy was voted Readers' Choice for Best Rock Band
Thank You!!!
"Last year, the group led by Will Bauermeister played more than 250 shows, and it sounds like it: Their well-oiled acoustic-rock is the kind of meat-and-potatoes bar-band fare that can turn a packed club into a party." - Pioneer Press
"The best band youve never heard." - Star Tribune
"You may find yourself toe tapping and humming their songs long after youve put the CD on the shelf." - Toast
"I respect these guys for not claiming to write and perform music with a purpose beyond the sure pleasure of playing it and having fun with the audience." - Cake Magazine
If you're around on Thursday, December 10th, we are playing a show at Mario's Keller Bar. I don't know if you've been there, but it's a very cool place. It's a comfortable space, the room sounds great and they have a stellar beer selection.
Also, we will be playing ALL NIGHT! We'll play some funky, bluesy, and soulful music. We'll project live video onto a 9 ft screen. We'll play some older material that hasn't been heard in awhile, as well as some brand new songs that've never been heard. All bets are off!! We'd love it if you'd come down and listen/party with us!
I just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy Sunday! I hope that the weekend brought you fun adventures, relaxation, and contentment :)
I was going to go camping this weekend, but this is definitely NOT camping weather. So me and some friends went to check out Dueling Pianos. Those guys are amazing - they can play just about any song that's been on the radio between 1950 and 2005.
Anyways, I wanted to let you know about a show we have @ Station 4 on Friday, October 16th. We are debuting a series of one time only performance art pieces. This one is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. The night will be full of creative, interesting, high-energy music, good drinks and good times.
Here's the info:

We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time a few days ago. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a video of a new tune called Run Bobby Run:
