Hello and welcome to the official DB Martin Group MySpace.
DB Martin, the pianist, was born out of magical happenstance. At 46 years of age, DB's musical journey began to unfold two-thirds into his life by a seemingly coincidental meeting with a piano. With no experience having an unforeseeable opportunity to sit at one at length, a talent began to emerge instantaneously. One week after "noodling" DB was being compared to George Winston and Erik Satie. This chance meeting would all but change DB's life forever and send him in a direction that DB only previously dreamed about. "How do I explain it" DB says, "I sat at this magical piano and my hands began doing things I didnt know they could do." What is evident was when DB plays live, his audience falls into almost trance like states taking in the soft almost spoken compositions. "It's certainly a gift and I intend to honour it" notes DB. "I mean wouldnt you?." The Gift continued to grow into what is now the DB Martin Group and the debut CD Miracle Man.
To answer a common question DB gets from people, yes that's him singing. And playing the piano and drums. And yes DB is the lyricist and composer of an impressive battery of songs. Songs that take you where you want to go when you listen to music. The guitar, bass, and sax are a few Austin musical artists notably Jason James (James' studio, 'Spin Studios Austin' is where the debut CD Miracle Man was recorded and mixed), Paul Klemperer, Ari Koinuma and Jimmy Joe Natoli, whose individual mastery and vision helped DB bring this wonderful music to life. It's a long story about two very different lives lived by the same person, the latter a unexpected twist and turn into a world of music of which dreams are made. "It was definitely one of those 'life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans' moments.", says DB. Sometimes "no plan" turns out to be the best plan.
The title cut of DB's debut CD Miracle Man pays homage to slain Beatle frontman and peace activist John Lennon.
This music is a classic example of how music changes you.

REVIEWS and COMMENTS
Thorne World Reviews
"When I lived in Austin I used to go see the DB Martin Group. The songs were soulful, the performance was inspiring and the delivery was powerful. With the debut of the CD Miracle Man, DB has added some punch to the songs he has been performing and has added some wonderful new material. Won't Worry Anymore has always been a favorite and this version comes with performances by some new DB Martin Group players and you can tell these guys have worked on these songs. Miracle Man is a reminder that we should not create our idols just to destroy them and DB sends this message loud and clear in his powerful vocal. The fun ending of Miracle Man is reminiscent of fun Beatles endings such as on Hello Goodbye and Hey Jude. This CD is worth checking out and when you do, CRANK IT UP !"

"Some of the best original music I've heard in a while..." - Bob, Legendsandpros

"When a band sounds like one of my all time heroes, they have got me on their side from the start. This is like Richard Thompson- one of the best songwriters and most dangerous-sounding performers of our time. So these guys are in the top league for me. Anyone can copy, but to be original in the style is something special. My first review this week- and its a favourite! " - Darowyn, Singer/Songwriter, UK

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.
