About me:
I am a born creative, with an inherent
attraction to visual imagination. I possess a never-ending
passion for all forms of art.
After earning a bachelor's degree in Communication Design
from the University of North Texas, I made a living as a
designer and illustrator for such studios and agencies as,
Lindsey Design Group, Grey Worldwide and Blanchard Schaefer
Advertising – earning a number of Addy and Graphic
Design:USA awards.
After becoming a father, I realized that my path in life
was going to change. It was after 13 years of graphic
design that I decided to become an elementary school art
teacher. I find purpose in teaching: helping children not
only learn about art - but to help them discover their
inner talents and build their self-worth to become
confident, responsible and compassionate adults.
As passionate an illustrator as I am a teacher, I am a
member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and
Illustrators and also teach illustration at the University
of Texas in Arlington.
My preferred medium is watercolor and pencils. Yet, my
explorations in design have led me to include Adobe
Photoshop and Corel Painter as well.
My work has appeared in the “Journal of Prothetics and
Orthodics” and “Odyssey” (Cobblestone
Publishing).
