We used many different guitars on this album including my favorite which is a Taylor 614 that is set up 3 half steps down and then often "Drop D tuned" using medium Elixer Nanoweb strings. Also used on this album is a Semi Vintage Gibson ES 5 Archtop "Switchmaster", a Squire Acoustic Parlor guitar, an Ibanez 7 string Electric with scalloping, and a Fender Stratocaster, Eric Clapton Model.
Much to my surprise, I am often asked "who are my musical influences"? I had not really thought much about this point, until it was suggested that I declare my influences officially for our website--
So here you go in no particular order: Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, the Allman brothers Band and especially Gregg Allman, George Benson, Honk, James Brown, Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, John Heussenstam, Will Brady, Van Morrison, John Klemmer, Ausie Payton, Buddy Guy, BB King, Joe Satriani and of course Prince!
From the outset, the idea behind this album was to have "no filler"; and to present a broad range of guitar styles such as Jazz, Blues, Slack Key, Rock, Folk rock, pure acoustic, and even some stuff we are not to sure how to categorize--
I desperately tried to avoid presenting 14 tracks that sounded "the same"; but hoped to offer an interesting variety of tracks that represented my musical styles.
This also meant enlisting the help of some of Hawaii's most accomplished musicians to lend their seasoning for a tasty musical journey!

Born in Southern California in a small beach community about an hour
north of the Mexican Border, db warren was influenced by the rich multi
ethnic music that is a hallmark of that region. His father was a music
teacher at UCLA and a first chair "oboist" in a Los Angeles Orchestra. Db's
parents were divorced since his early childhood, which left db without the
benefit of his father's musical knowledge or influence, although it would
become clear he was the beneficiary of his father's musical heredity.
Music clearly run in his blood, although it lay dormant for years, until he
began to travel the major cities of Asia and the world on business...
Landing his first job with a Taiwanese importer in the 1980's, db began to
travel Asian Countries including, Thailand, China, the Philippines,
Indonesia, and Taiwan as an importer and manufacturer of consumer
products for North American Markets... For years db religiously carried a
simple guitar while traveling, in order to while away the long hours of
international layovers in airports. Writing, arranging, and playing his own
music seemed the only natural way to spend this free time... Soon it was
apparent that Bored Travelers in airport waiting lounges from around the
world, found peace and the easy passing of time, while listening to db
quietly play and arrange musical ideas that were the basis for many new
songs. Soon their urgings and requests for his music finally compelled him
to enter the Studio and produce this debut album "Once in a Blue Moon"
with some of Hawaii's finest musicians.
The unique combination of an unorthodox musical education, the profound
influences of Asian and Hispanic cultures, the undeniable presence of Irish
Family Lineage, and the love of the great Blues Masters, db warren has
created a unique "world sound" based around an electrified acoustic guitar.
As the owner and founder of a successful Real Estate Brokerage and
Luxury Rental Company (www.obrhi.com) on the island of Oahu, Hawaii;
db is now able to pursue his musical passions with other musicians who share
similar world views and multi cultural experiences, which expand upon
