|
| Bio | Damian Callinan [comedian, actor, writer] has always found writing biographies problematic. Despite the fact that he has been quite successful in his chosen comedy career since leaving drama teaching, he has found it difficult to talk of his achievements. You’d think he’d be falling over himself to tell everyone that he was a regular on such TV shows as Skithouse; Before The Game and now The Wedge. You’d also think he’d be quite happy to let people know he’s had a busy radio career with stints on JJJ; Mix FM; MMM and currently on 774ABC Melbourne & Radio National. Not to mention the fact he’s won a swag of Melbourne Comedy Festival Awards including 2 ’Barry Nominations’; 2 Moosehead Awards, a Piece Of Wood [Comedians Choice] and the ABNN Amro Foreign Exchange Award which sent him to the Edinburgh Fringe. He’s used such predictable techniques as writing in the 3rd person in order to overcome his biographical humility, but even then he finds it difficult to let people know he’s equally adept at straight and character stand up; in high demand on the corporate circuit; is seen in high regard as a director and comedy workshop facilitator and regularly tours the Australia as a headline act. He also finds it hard to sustain the 3rd person narrative don’t I! The sooner he overcomes this nagging problem the sooner he’ll be able to let people know he’s also writing a novel ; developing a comedy stage show about the history of Australia and has just shot a pilot for a new TV comedy with his ensemble production company "Little Engine." In early 2008 he touring regionally with solo show "Sportsmans Night" before debuting his new solo show "Last Drinks" at MICF. About me:
I was found abandoned as a baby in a pottery kiln by an order of ceramic monks and brought up as a terracotta milk jug before realising my true identity in my early teens. It took some years but finally I have come to terms with who I am. Now i feel more special being a custard jug. Many of my old milk jug friends have cast me off, but really do I need friends who judge me by my contents. I still keep in contact with some of the monks but most of them a broken now as i too will be broken one day.
