About me:
I have served in the Connecticut state legislature for 13 years, four in the House of Representatives and nine in my current role as state Senator representing the 24th District, which includes my hometown of Danbury.
I have devoted my life to public service and have earned a reputation as a reformer who is not afraid to take on the majority party in Hartford, or my own party’s leadership in order to defend the best interests of Connecticut’s families and taxpayers.
I am a true Connecticut Republican – fiscally conservative because it’s your money; socially moderate because it’s your life. I believe government’s job is to help and protect us, but not to intrude in our private matters. For those reasons, my legislative agenda is based on a handful of core principles: smaller, more efficient government; lower taxes; the protection of our civil liberties; a cleaner environment; and strong national security.
Born in Danbury, Connecticut on August 15, 1968, I am a 1986 graduate of Immaculate High School in Danbury, and attended Western Connecticut State University. My wife, Christine Ciarlegio, and I were married on June 28, 2002. We are proud parents to John (Jack) Reagan Cappiello born in July 2005 and Jude Francis Cappiello, born July 5th, 2007.
