Ray "D Cash The Beatboy" Dennis II had a unique up-bringing
compared to the rest of his family. Due to his father being a soldier
of the U.S. Military, D has moved several times during the early stages
of his life.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, D's family was stationed in Japan
when he was 3 years old. At 13, the family was again stationed in Oahu,
Hawaii. It was here in 8th grade where young Ray met up with
Korey "Young Phresh" Calhoun. After befriending Phresh because of his very
similar background, Ray learned of a music production program named
Fruity Tracks 2. Korey's uncle told him about the program, which lead to
Korey telling Ray about it.
After the discovery, Ray and Korey were overwhelmed with a
newfound passion for music production. They formed a group by the name
of Phyvestar Productions. Korey's producer name was Young Phresh, and
Ray's was Snakeye Productionz. During the summer between their 8th
grade and 9th grade school years, Phresh and Snakeye were constantly
competing in over-the-phone beat battles.
Testing each other's strategies and learning from each other as
producers. They had dreams of becoming the next Kanye West, who back
in 2003 had seemed to have come out of nowhere. However, in 2004, Ray's
family was stationed in Atlanta, Georgia; haulting Phyvestar. Due to
his new environment filled with racial tension and sour vibes, Ray
began to lose sight of his dreams of becoming a music producer.
Throughout his high school career, there were no major
influences that convinced him he could even make it in the music world.
Upon graduating high school, Ray realized that he couldn't live the
life that his surrounding peers were leading. His dreams were too
overwhelming. He knew even if he was able to attend a 4-year
university, that the Bachelor's Degree wouldn't satisfy him anymore
than his high school diploma did. It was always about the music. So
in 2008, he came back to the beats.
Since he spent the majority of his life away from his hometown
in Duval, Florida, he chose to represent it in his new production name;
Duval Cash. But Ray wanted to represent something else as well. The
dream. The thing that drives anybody to make real progress. The dreams
he had as a 13 year old beatboy never drifted. After combining the two
new production names into "D Cash The Beatboy", D remains on his
journey to make his dreams become reality...
