My name is DC, but my real name is Darrin Carlson. I do the morning show on B97/B93 in Hilo, Hawaii broadcasting to the entire Big Island. (and rumor has it, parts of Maui).
My long strange trip begins in Davenport, Iowa in 1965. That's where I was born. When I was thirteen my family moved all of us to beautiful Loveland, Colorado where I lived until I was twenty. I began my radio career there in 1983 just months after graduation from high school. I worked at KLOV in Loveland, then moved on to QUAD 99 (KUAD) in Windsor (now called K99).
In 1985, I got the opportunity to move to Hilo, Hawaii where I planned to stay for about a year, where I was sure they could use my expertise. My over-sized ego realized quickly that Hawaii didn't really need me, but welcomed me with open arms anyway. Then something about me and Hawaii just clicked and I stayed, doing mornings at KBIG FM, sister station to QUAD 99. It didn't hurt that I met my best friend and wife Vanessa here, too. We got married live on the radio at Mo'oheau Bandstand in June 1989 and have two teenagers, both with their own My Space accounts.

On December 17th, 2001 (after 16 years at KBIG), I began doing mornings at B-97 where I am totally loving it, playing classic hits from the sixties through the nineties. If your a listener, then by all means hit the ADD TO FRIENDS icon. If your an old friend from Colorado, do the same. However, you may remember me as Darrin Carlson from Thompson Valley High School. All I can say is sorry if I made fun of you during the Senior Slide Show. (C'mon, that was 1983!!) Go Eagles..
I'm having a little luck these days, connecting with some people who are into preserving classic Hendrix and other artists from that era. Glad to see it's still popular.
Got about ten songs from the past couple years on my site. Working on a new "Trower-ish" original right now. More new stuff to come!
Feeling pretty optimistic about local music these days; which is good considering Linda Lingle is laying so many of us off from our day jobs! AARRGGHH!!!

Are we referring to the Tarantino as in Mr. Quentin? Yes, he's got the most bizarre hair on the planet, but I must confess, I have a mad, mad, mad crush on him that is beyond explanation. He is at the very top of the list of top five people I would most like to meet. My crazy brain is running right along the same line his is. I LOVE YOU Quentin!
