DRC's Interests
|
| General | By day, I maintain the VirtualGL Project, an open software framework for remotely displaying 3D graphics programs. By night, I'm a professional pianist/keyboardist. On weekends, I enjoy
adventure sports and outdoor photography.
| | Music | As far as what I listen to, my musical tastes are all over the map and include everything from Bluegrass to Post New Wave. At the moment, some of my favorite bands include Eddie From Ohio, Dire Straits, The Pat Metheny Group, Bruce Hornsby, Ghost of an American Airman, Pseudopod, The Bad Plus, and The Kaiser Chiefs.
| | Movies | In my DVD collection, you'll find a lot of Monty Python and/or Terry Gilliam, Christopher Guest, The Coen Bros., The Zucker Bros., Stanley Kubrick, and Mel Brooks.
| | Television | Discovery Channel geek (yes, I admit it.) Addicted to "Lost", "The Family Guy". Past favorites include "Roswell", "Alias", "Buffy", "Angel", "Firefly", Dave Chapelle, "Mr. Show", "The Tick", "The X-Files", "Monty Python's Flying Circus", and "Whose Line is it Anyway?" | | Books | Currently reading the Rama series by Arthur C. Clarke. Previous favorites include the Hyperion and Ilium sagas by Dan Simmons, the Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow series by Orson Scott Card, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and just about anything by Vonnegut (RIP, Kurt. So it goes.) | | Heroes | Stephen Hawking, Lyle Mays, Jimmy Carter |

DRC's Blurbs |
About me:
DRC was born under a cabbage leaf in the petroleum swamps of Southeast Texas and raised by nutria until the age of 13, when a chance encounter with Ed McMahon at the local hardware store would propel him to stardom. Discerning viewers may remember him as Sparky, the elusive "11th Cowsill", a teenage washboard prodigy and the first ever to perform a slide whistle arrangement of "Carnival of Venice" in front of Carnegie Hall (on the sidewalk.) DRC eventually tired of big city life and headed out west to Illinois, where a chance encounter at the local hardware store landed him a gig as the second chair guitar synth player for Hewey Louis and the Gnus. A couple of lawsuits later, the band broke up and DRC was left penniless and wandering the mean streets of Bloomfield looking for work. It was then that a chance encounter at the local hardware store landed him a gig as Kelly Clarkson's second cousin's green grocer. And now you know the rest of the story ...
