DC Tempest are an Indie rock band from Dublin. The
band was formed in 2006 and consists of Alan Starr (vocals/guitar), Lee
Tomkins (guitar/vocals), Stephen Kennedy
(bass/vocals) and Seán Hurley (keyboards/guitar).
May 2008 saw DC Tempest release the "Into The Light" EP which was received
with critical acclaim by Hotpress Magazine who described the EP as an
"impressive statement of intent". Radio stations such as Phantom FM and FM
104 also took note and the band started the summer with a stunning
performance supporting Bon Jovi at Punchestown Racecourse.
Following an extremely hectic summer, the band released their single "Coming
Back Around" in October 2008 which earned them a slot by way of public vote
(hotpress.com) on the Live Stage at the celebrated annual Hotpress Music
Show in the RDS.
2008 saw DC Tempest sharing the stage with the likes of Cathy Davy, Republic
Of Loose, Razorlight, The Coronas, Kid Rock and Damien Dempsey to name but a
few. The band have built up a reputation as one of Irelands’ finest live
acts with their ever-growing fan base enraptured by a captivating
performances and quality tune-smithery.
2009 will see the release of their much anticipated 2nd single
“Imagination”, taken from their debut album which is set for release Autumn
2009. The guys are currently working on their album jumping between their
Dublin studio Area 94 and The Nutshed studio, Clara. The band have teamed
up with Terry McGuinness who has taken on the role of Tour Manager. Terry
was arguably the commanding force behind the touring activity of Irish band
Turn and is hoping to repeat this success with DC Tempest.
