I play 3-4 dozen times a year with my band Cormorant's Fancy (www.cormorantsfancy.com). I occasionally sit in with other bands. I am working on a small pub band to preview in the not too distant future.
I have performed with Derek Warfield, John Whelan, Kilshanny, John & Sharon Knowles, Bruce Young, Henry Koretzky, Jamie O'Brien, Fiddleman, Irishtown Road and others. I am available to play bodhran in the US or record with any Irish band playing mostly traditional music.

Below is an ACTV television clip. In the last 10 of 30 minutes, you'll see me playing at the Garryowen with John Whelan (you can't fast forward).

The clip below is from my first trip to Ireland in June 2008. After 3 days in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, I pulled out the whistle as we were leaving and daughter Heather filmed the clip. Not the best, but after seeing PJ's dozens of whistle clips, I had to get something posted.

I started an Irish band in 2003 called Cormorant's Fancy which quickly expanded to include songs and tunes from Scotland and a few other Celtic nations.
Cormorant's Fancy completed our first CD March 2006 and finished our second one July 2009. You can listen to some of our music on CDBaby or watch a video of us playing at the Adams County Irish Festival in 2007 on MySpace or YouTube, both of which you can link to from the band's website at www.cormorantsfancy.com.
We are also aired on a number of Podcasts and get some airtime on Irish radio stations Galway
Bay
FM Radio , Miwest
Radio,
and Clare
FM
Radio , as well as Radio
Jade
87.8 in Germany and Shannon O'Neill's
Memorial Celtic Music
Hour on Phoenix
Internet Radio.
If you hear us on other radio stations, send us an email and
tell us where and when.
I play Copeland, Susato, Chieftain, and Silkstone whistles.
I currently play a
Seamus O'Kane "Rack & Pinion tuning" bodhran which is
the best
Bodhran I've ever heard and an RWE bodhran. I heard
an O'Kane
on a Teada
CD; drove
to Philadelphia to take a worshop with Tristan Rosenstock just to try
his bodhran, got the
"Aha, that's it" and placed my order. What a great bodhran
Seamus made
for me. Seamus no longer makes the new style (rack&
pinion),
nor does anyone else as of this posting, so I have one of only a small
number of his patented drums. it was kicked off my drum stand by a band member, breaking a water goblet and slicing the skin and had a 2-inch hole blown through the center by another band member. Having repaired it myself, it still sounds great. Offer me $5,000 and I'll not sell it - that's how good Seamus's bodhrans are made.
You still can buy his traditional tuned bodhrans which sound equally as good as the new style. I am learning guitar & digeridoo in the spare minutes I find here and there.
I've studied bodhran with Tristen Rosenstock (Teada), Rob
Forkner (Metloef Drums), Colm Phelan (World Bodhran Champ), Jimmy
Higgins (Altan), Stefan O'Brion, Siobhan O'Brien, Martin O'Neil
(All-Scotland, All-Britain, and All-Ireland bodhran champion, Rolf
Wagels, and Eamon Murray (Beoga).
The Old Favourite Set was played sitting in on a demo with Sharon Knowles on harp and me on whistle. The second tune is Donnybrooke Fair. Listen to Sharon's CD with the band Fynesound at http://cdbaby.com/cd/fynesound. Jamming at John's is a nice set with friends at John's house in August 2007 using my O'Kane rack & pinion bodhran. I played the whistle on Banish Misfortune with Joel Folkemer on the bodhrán. I was inspired to write 'Song for Janice' after observing the long, hard battle a close loved one, fought to regain independence following a major, debilitating medical emergency. It is my first attempt at songwriting & singing, and was recorded on a Sony IC-Recorder voice recorder.
Hi Dan, Thanks for your kind words- glad you like my music. You too are very talented. I appreciate your celtic airs being an Irish girl. Beautiful music. Blessings from Ireland. M
Lovely to hear from you and congratulations on your 6th grandchild! A boy too! Hurray, although you can never have too many women around haha. I was thinking about you on 4th July, and sitting round your pool last year, then playing some tunes. All the best to you all x
Hi Dan, thanks very much! Glad you've enjoyed listening :-) It is indeed very much a solo project, it generally all gets recorded with one mic in the study whenever I get a spare moment!
Hope you are SURVIVING these crazy economic times! Enjoy our new video "Whiskey Tonight" and stop by our site for a FREE download of the new song. Yes, something for FREE. * * * Cheers!
Hi Dan! It was great seeing you at Harp & Fiddle on Saturday. Thanks for coming over and participating in the session. H&F is very happy with the turnout. Hope to see you again soon.
Hi Dan. It was nice seeing you at H&F yesterday. What a great session. Thanks for all your help spreading the word. Hope to see this become a regular event.
