The trick to Deablo’s complex audio palette is the rich source of influences. Deanthony is an open-minded artist and believes that to truly get inside the heart of music, one must understand all its manifestations. It makes a wiser artist, better able to craft solid, textured music that carries a fun vibe and a real message. “My philosophy on music,” he says, “is that, to understand it, you have to be willing to listen to everything from rock to rap.” Deablo seeks to reach beyond the confines of hip-hop and find a broad audience that connects with the music. The only way to do that, he says, is to understand the whole spectrum of music, not just what’s going on in an artist’s own chosen style.
THE ARTIST AT WORK
“Writing music is a nonstop process,” says Deablo of an intense creative process that never slows. Constant writing means there’s always material to record, and that’s a common activity for Deablo, as well. Deanthony has completed his first mixtape, “The Taste of Chicago Vol. 1” and is at work on the follow up. In addition, he is involved with an indie record label with plans to release a mixtape series. Deablo is currently working with A&R Select, the leading indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
