The DeadBeats formed during the Summer of 1994 on the notion that we could, somehow, pull off some reasonable Dead covers. After a handful of practices we decided to give it a go at Nevada City's old Mad Dogs and Englishmen Pub. When the place filled to capacity by 10:00 and folks had to line up outside the door, well, we new we were on to something. That "something" is a certain, undefinable, sound and feel that really captures the essence of a Dead show.
Over the years band members have come and gone, but the core, Tom, Paul and Gary, have provided a solid continuity to the DeadBeat sound.
These days the band, after taking a couple years break (with just a few shows), is contemplating a re-birth of energies. We recently held a concert at the Miner's Foundry in Nevada City and were amazed to see more than 400 people turn out. Thats the kind of energy and vibe that really stokes our fires!!
