As you know, we of the Asatru faith have many adherents in the Military, and have been working for some time for the right to place our symbol (The Mjolnir (or Thor's Hammer) on the graves of our fallen warriors. The Asatru Folk Assembly has put together a petition as part of our campaign. This is not a MySpace "Cause" or another online poll, but a legitimate petition which we aim to present to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Whether or not, you are an Asatruar, I hope you will support this cause as a basic right for our military personnel. Please sign the petition at:
Heh... we've been getting that a lot. Track 15 was a bonus/hidden track called the Tide. It didn't quite fit with the rest of the songs, but we liked it so much we wanted to put it on anyways. And the 9 minutes of silence faded up into the ocean. It seemed fitting to have a 9 minute pause to reflect on Baldur's return. Or at least, we thought so. :)
Steve's book can be found here. I can't recommend it enough. I'm going to have to start bugging Steve about getting a Myspace page put together to spread the word.
Now that's funny- I played saxophone in a Ska band back in high school, but haven't touched ska ever since. Certainly not a reaction I'd expect, but hey, I'll take it as a compliment! You probably mean the more upbeat songs like No Mercy and SOB.
Good to go on using the instrumental music for a music bed- I'd really appreciate a copy of whatever you're using it for, just for my archives.
You know, I love Amon Amarth, and bands like Einherjer or Tyr, but I really want to start seeing Modern Heathen Art- songs and stories about the Gods in our modern lives. It's almost as if Heathen artists are afraid to mention anything after 1000CE. You might want to check out Steven Abell's new book "Days in Midgard: 1000 years on." It's a collection of some great new stories about modern American folk meeting the Gods in strange places. He doesn't mention the Gods by name, per se, but it's apparent to any good Heathen. Good stuff- check it out if you have a chance.
Hail Anthony! Thanks for buying our CD- it means a lot to us to have the support of good Heathens like you! Any favorite tracks so far? Let me know what you think.
So tell me about your radio show- I'm guessing it's mostly country/roots rock. Any chance of you playing some of our songs on it? Obviously we're not country, but there might be some cross over appeal in Nothing but Regrets, or SOB (if you can get that past the station of course). Anything you could do to help spread the word is really appreciated- we're trying to break out into the big time with this one.
Thanks For your support!!!!

18!! Hope you have a wonderful birthday! I remember my 18th--even though I often tell those who were there that I have no recollection of it. .it was mildly embarrassing. Yours will definitely be better!
