"Our best shows have probably been at Cakeshop and Dead Herring."
-Peggy from Pains of Being Pure at Heart
"Best place to play" - High Places
"Dead Herring is one of those rare, wonderful places where you can see a great, eclectic mix of music, have a cheap drink, and get to hang with some really cool people. The venue has this, “best house party you ever went to” vibe, but the proprietors had a nonchalant professionalism about them, keeping everything running smoothly. Needless to say, we had a great time playing and checking some really good bands.
We can’t wait to get back to see some good shows and hang out." -Macque
"“Dead Herring and Woodser are probably my favorite places,” he told me. “The shows are more like parties, with people drinking and hanging out on the roof. It's always crowded, because they only have shows when good bands are coming through. It's not a 'venue' in that they need to have shows to make money.”
No longer are wayward gentrifiers staring longingly at the Williamsburg Bridge from their loft parties, hoping to someday find a good deal on rent in the East Village, Lower East Side or the like for the nightlife. In fact, it seems like many Manhattan residents shun the carnival-like atmosphere and rationalize staying put by leaning on the crutch of convenience.
“The best best shows that I've been to in Brooklyn are the places that you go only once or twice,” continued Kyle. “They don't have a name, and they pop up, then disappear just as quickly - the ones that feel really secret and ephemeral.” - Chris Shott for the New York Observer

BLACKLIST live at the glasslands gallery MAY/16/2009 w/special guests : violethour and AFTERPARTY [10pm-4am]
paralisis dj's chuby242 & raymi7 will be spinning music from cult bands of the 80's along with the all time classics from the genres of new wave, post - punk, darksynth & ebm between sets and after the show.
BLACKLIST Combining postpunk intensity with the volume and the sonic density of shoegaze, Blacklist represents a new breed of rock and roll maximalism. They released their first official EP, "Solidaire," which features 'Shock In The Hotel Falcon.' and ‘pure joy in my heart’
Since then, the band has shared the stage with underground legends Psychic TV and Mark Burgess (The Chamelons) as well as with current acts such as The Warlocks, A Place To Bury Strangers, IAMX, and The Mary Onettes. Blacklist is set to release its full-length debut LP 'Midnight of the Century' in 2009. Recorded in NYC throughout 2008, the album was mixed in London by Ed Buller (Suede, Slowdive, Pulp, White Lies).
VIOLETHOUR is a Brooklyn-based darknoise duo. Their sound is characterized by lush textures of distortion, orchestral tones, and electronic beats. In spirit, the band channels cult aesthetic inspirations such as Camus or Ann Demeulemeester. VH is revolution rock for the times…
