Dead Man In A Box's Blurbs
About me:
"what's that in the box over there?

it's a piece of human hair!"

Dead Man In A Box are London's newest and brightest improvised comedy group.

Seven young comedy minds met at UCL... a university founded by the great Jeremy Bentham, a man who literally gave his body to the university (hence the name Dead Man In A Box).

The first Monday of every month at Liberties Bar, Camden High Street, DMIAB brings you two hours of high energy, quick-witted, weird and wonderful improvised comedy.

Sketches, games, songs, nothing is beyond these monkeys...their wish is your command so come along and give your suggestions!

Check out the review of our 16th January UCLU show in UCL student magazine Pi!!

"My first comedy evening at UCL, and what better induction than the homegrown talent Dead Man In A Box. With a dedicated following of hard-core enthusiasts, they currently hold a fortnightly slot at Liberties Bar on Camden High Street. However, for one night only they could be found at Huntley Street.
Couches and dim lights provided a refined atmosphere. I took my place near the front, pen poised as I made a geeky attempt to be studious. Good turnout: not overflowing but, considering the competition, I was impressed.
With a leap and a bound the performance began...! The audience were instantly absorbed, shouting wild suggestions for the first sketch. It ended up a story told in continuous flow by randomly selected members of the group, involving a monster truck and Kriss Akabusi. The initial energy did not fade, and nor did the audience involvement.
The show's gem was the improvised Shakespeare style tale, The Relaxing Tupperware of Nice. Silly, yes, but with quick thinking, characterisation and cracking one-liners, the piece worked brilliantly.
From one fairytale ending to another not quite so magical: the show's finale, a musical about a diabetic kleptomaniac queen, fell a little flat. The concluding bang was lost in the drowning chorus of, "she's such a bitch, she stole my Twix." However, with improvised songs sung in unison, credit has to be given for the intense team spirit.
So, there were a few bad jokes. Nevertheless, the finer points of the performance surpassed its weaknesses. All in all, the talent and imagination displayed by these quick-thinking, creative individuals meant a side-splitting evening of silliness. Needless to say, the pen held so alert at the start was soon lying forgotten on the table. It stands as testament to the show that I have remembered so much without notes and am still laughing."
