So ..... What is Dead Man's Pants?
A quartet of aging hippies that play a variety of country, folk, roots, rock, blues, jug band and original music.
So ..... When was Dead Man's Pants formed?
In the spring of 2001 to offer music lovers an alternative to hearing music outside of the commercial music formats that are normally available (See songlist blog). Life long friends, Dan Vaughn and John Waddington, are the impetus of Dead Man's Pants, sharing nearly forty years of musical collaboration and experience. Bob Rice brings into the group thirty five years of experience as a working and traveling musician. Alan Fisher was recently added to the Dead Man's Pants line up. A seasoned vetern of the Pacific Northwest music scene, Alan rounds out Dead Man's Pants unique sound adding a combination of muscle and tenderness. Thus, Dead Man's Pants is a culmination of four individuals sharing decades of music together.
So ..... Where did the name Dead Man's Pants come from?
"Dan came into rehearsal one day wearing these cool vintage pants. After inquiring where they had come from, he implied that friends of his had recently had an estate sale on behalf of a relative who had recently passed on and that they had given him some clothes that they could not sell. I looked at him and said, "So Dan, I guess you're wearing dead man's pants". We looked at each other, broke out laughing and .... the rest is history! And yes, those are the original dead man's pants in our first publicity photo being worn by Dan (on the right)..... Quote; Bob Rice".
