Presenting for your delectation these young tiddly-winkers from London town going by the name of DEAD MONROE! Guaranteed to send an electric shock through your ten-speed gears and a rattle through your Tom Jones.
Dead Monroe serve up a scrump-diddly-umptious feast of sound – extracting the essence of rock'n'roll, blues and glam, with a punk edge that'll tickle the buds of your tasties, if I may rightly put it so.
These feather cut dandies are to be seen sporting an array of the fineliest garments and accoutrements – winkle picker ones & twos, skinny harpers & queens and pin-stripe whistles & flutes.
Fronting the trio on lungs and bass, with the goldest of barnet-fair, is Justin. Standing tall along side is the blue-eyed boy on the six string oft addressed as Alex. And completing this gallery of rogues, on sticks and taps I give you drummer-boy Ben. This quarter-of-a-dozen write, play and produce infectious grooves that are guaranteed to slap smiles on airs and graces and get those bottie-wotties shaking.
You can catch these boys jiving across London town, rumbling their riffs so loud it'll be enough to send you Mutt'n'Jeff!
Sweetheart is a wonderfully confident glam-tinged stomp, drawing to some degree from the seventies for its fresh melody and un-selfconscious sense of fun. The songwriting and musical delivery of all three tracks on the single places them firmly in the present, though.
The semi-falsetto at the beginning of You're No Good For Me lulls you into a false sense of security, but even at that point the band have started to rip apart the Jean Genie-esque riff with slow precise malice and an evil smile on their faces. The bass and drums hammer along in a deliberate dark brooding manner, and once they've thrown in a couple of handclaps, you can't help but indulge in some Jagger-style rooster strutting.
Out Of My Head could best be described as an 'album track'... but the sort of album track that burns its way into your head over time, all gut-pounding drumbeats and suppressed savagery that finishes far too soon.
A 100% fad-free gem.

Sweetheart review from AllGigs.co.uk
Rating: 4 starts out of 5
Barrow boys Dead Monroe are a fresh faced and bushy eyed trio from old London Town. As of yet unsigned but hungry for a taste of the big time, new single 'Sweetheart' sees the band's highly addictive blend of good old rock'n'roll, blues and glam rock united with a twist of edgy punk-rock thrown in for good measure.
With the pulsing tempo of a high speed locomotive, a marriage of rhythmatic guitars and crashing drums help keep time to this punk-rock classic.
Dead Monroe's style of short, fast, hard music is distinctive, and thankfully by no means over powering or detrimental to the vocals of lead singer Justin. Like most punk-rock, aimed to be aggressively modern, distancing itself from the bombast and sentimentality of early 1970s rock, Dead Monroe's stripped-down instrumentation rallies against a non-political, non-nihilistic lyrical content.
There is something strangely appealing about the track 'Sweetheart', its like Slade meets the Sex Pistols, all of the grit but with none of the grime!

The songs don't really reach out and grab me like earlier albums - they don't seem to relate to me. The sound is good, but it seems less like them and more like a generic 00's rock band. But maybe that's the idea? The album sounded great live though, and I actually enjoyed hearing it more like that.
