DJ SNAG OF THE ABS CREW IS THE EMCEE/ DJ/ PRODUCER/ WHAT EVER THE FUCK YOU WANT HIM TO BE, AND DEAD EYE, LET'S JUST SAY IS THE TOKEN LIGHT SKINNED EMCEE/ BATTLE RAPPER. BOTH HAVE BEEN ON THE SEEN FOR 20+ YEARS COMBINED. THEY FEATURE ORIGINAL BEATS AND RHYMES TO BRING HIP HOP BACK TO ITS ROOTS. These guys beat out a ton of other talented rappers to win our contest, and while plenty of cats can get nice in the studio only to fall apart onstage, they put on a show that rivaled any other group performing all day. Sure, they went on early, and obviously the audience was still rolling up, but they represented like true pros throughout their 30-minute set. For one, they used a real DJ and real vinyl, things that are becoming hard to come by in this increasingly digital era. They also engaged the crowd with between-song banter, flipped strong back-and-forth verses, and rhymed about a wide array of topics. They didn't flip out on the soundman when mic levels needed adjusting, they didn't have 80 random homies yelling onstage, and they didn't get tripped up by forgotten lyrics. I've seen hundreds of rap shows over the years, and I can say in all confidence that these guys definitely have a future.
