ABOUT DEADRUDE
This is the promotions arm of The Mon£yshots. Set up by Deadly in 2003, the aim was to put on great acoustic acts who at the time had few places at their disposal to show off their talent. The Port Mahon in Oxford was the obvious venue (as Deadly's father ran it at the time) and the venue has since grown into one of the best small venues in the city. Since then Hoochie has joined the fold. Our philosophy is quite simple, we do not believe in pay to play, we believe that artists and bands should be paid accordingly. Hence, we keep the expenses down and ensure that the artists get what their hard work and endeavours deserve.
Acts to have played include:
Mark Chadwick (The Levellers)
John Otway is a regular performer including the annual May Morning extravaganza.
Murray Torkildsen (The Sweeney and Otway Big Band).
Mark Gardener (Ex Ride)
Lach (godfather of the New York Anti-Folk Scene).
Many more have passed through our doors. Many up and coming stars including:
Rachel Dadd
KTB
Rebecca Mosley
Chris Beard
Nick Brakespear
Babydayliner
Tom Sharp
Jamie Hyatt
David Fullbrook
Smokers Die Young
And many bands have played rare accoustic shows including:
Ciccone
Dive Dive
Goldrush
Now there is plenty of places to play and DeadRude has branched out. No longer confining ourselves to acoustic music, we have also put gigs on at The Wheatsheaf including Eddie and the Hot Rods as well as full bands at the Port including:
Dive Dive
Goldrush
Dusty Sound System
Morrison Steam Fayre
The Walk Off
+ many more.
We also organise all-day events with a mixture of accoustic acts and bands. The last such event was the inaugural Equitruck held in January.
