..::DEADSEA IS RISING::..

DEADSEA formed in 2003 when veteran composer-guitarist-vocalist Adam Smith decided to fuse his love of metal, doom and free music to create a trio that would provide "apocalyptic visions for positive ascendance". He found a perfect foil in longtime friend and bassist Alex Conley, who had spent six years as guitarist and composer in bizzaro hardcore band, THREE STUDIES FOR A CRUCIFIXION. This combination of ideas make up the unique sound of DEADSEA: metal mutation, passion is law, and the rest of the rules are thrown on the fire. Smith explains; "The intensity, dynamics and aggressiveness of DEADSEA are a result of an appreciation for our influences: all sorts of music, film, nature, books, and artwork, all of our wonderful friends, our families and the reflection of the people at shows. We always strive to capture the essence and raw energy of the moment, inflicting jazz improvisation within the volume and fury of metal."

In May 2005, Desiderata was released on indie label CHROME LEAF RECORDS, receiving universal acclaim in the local press despite lengthy songs such as the 22 minute opus Salem. By this time the DEADSEA live experience had become legendary. Their epic versatility led audiences through extended noise freak outs, all synthesizer sets and unrelenting doom punishment. People were leaving shows with mouths agape and national acts were scared of their powers.

In February 2006, a new and vicious addition, drummer Jeremy Spears, was brought into the DEADSEA mix. Spears brings the technical discipline DEADSEA's music requires along with an enthusiasm for testing new boundaries that improvisation allows.

October 2007 revealed the next nail in the coffin; a self-titled release on indie label CHROME LEAF RECORDS. Extensive touring in 2008 is already being mapped out with Earsplit PR running the publicity machine.

DEADSEA are currently recording a new album of epic destruction with Scott Robinson in the deep mountains of West Virginia. Stay tuned!... :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"They lie within no genre and utilize experimental rock, punk, jazz improvisation, death and progressive metal into a sweet concoction to the eardrums." - Hardrock Haven

"This is not a metal band that likes to play it safe. The album draws on blistering thrash, doom styled dirges, progressive note heavy sections and chunky old school flavored metal riffs making a sound that is all over the place yet still concise. " - Unbound zine

"Stoner, prog, thrash and just plain old good metal find a symbiotic arrangement in this dynamic music that changes tempos and fuses styles with admirably smooth delivery." - Corazine

"DEADSEA play music with an intensity only matched by its uniqueness, seamlessly mutating from guitar-led thrashings played at light speed to moody, introspective reveries, creating epochal songs of epic length...lengthy mazes of frenetic metal were shaped alongside jazzy inflections, acoustic interludes, synthesizers and field recordings...DEADSEA'S ability to juggle several decades of influences makes Desiderata an unabridged four-volume trip through the peaks and valleys of heavy music... a dizzying blur of headbanging nods: The checklist includes OBITUARY's pummeling death, CELTIC FROST's relentless thrash, drugged SABBATH doom chords and fret work somewhere between ZAPPA and VAN HALEN." -ALIVE

Imagine a much more fucked up MASTODON, with plenty of IRON MAIDENisms, a whole bunch of SABBATHiness, lots of CARCASS-y bits, a healthy dose of VOIVODy parts, some serious CHAMPSy workouts and even some full-on buzzy black metal...when it's all this deftly assembled it becomes some massive and massively mighty metal beast. By all rights this is the band metalheads should be bowing before as much as the mega-hyped MASTODON, but for now, they'll just have to remain our little metallic secret, but not for much longer we'd wager! -AQUARIUS RECORDS

Supporting NAPALM DEATH and OBITUARY at Newport Music Hall, "DEADSEA opened the evening's lovely festivities with an absolutely inspired and inspiring set. It was simply magnificent. The band's ferociously executed prog-meets-thrash metal was Yes-inspired. Yes, Yes. The members of Deadsea put their hearts on their crossbows, and it was the best band of the night. Singer/guitarist Adam Smith put the rest of the night's frontmen and guitarists to shame, which was no easy feat." -THE OTHER PAPER

"...tossing in more time changes than Daylight Savings, DEADSEA never sacrifices the power that makes metal what it is. Imagine MILES DAVIS jamming with MASTODON while Lemmy from MOTORHEAD is pouring them shots...heavy enough that punk rockers are seen at their shows, yet Desiderata is a sprawling disc of prog-metal. The reason so many people dig DEADSEA is because they speak a language that everyone can understand: Honesty. Oh, and they kick ass too." -U WEEKLY

"Deadsea chooses to ignore status quo and produce more erratic yet technically sophisticated entries that weave an aural web that is both intriguing and complicated.
