• Bio

In the wake of the flood that is Jerry Garcia's musical legacy, bands are springing up like wildflowers after a wet winter. Dead Set is an acoustic duo that delves into the jam side of American roots music. Based in Novato, CA. the group has been performing in the bay area since 2003.

"John Wilson's "As I Went Out One Morning (Dylan)" gives us a Hunteresque ballad of betrayal that invokes the English folk idiom. Shades of Jack-a-Roe with a dash of Terrapin. The guitar work is masterful & enthralling, and Wilson's delivery is distinctive, maybe Graham Parker meets late 70s Dylan? John also has 'Fishin Blues' that sounds like Ry Cooder on a banjo. " -- John Doherty, music reviewer.

"Delia" it's special. It reaches across all kinds of distances and nails something elemental and human. " -- Chris Desmond, composer, producer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9ihHQHtJXo&feature=player_embedded

I hope to play with them again soon.

Joe Greenwald played bass for us early on and he can be heard on our recording of Friend of the Devil and Fishin' Blues.

Click on the picture above to read a comic strip about John in college. The cartoonist does a series called, "Great Moments In Rock and Roll". People send in their stories and he illustrates them. His website is here: http://www.jorlff.com
