Dead Ship Records is an independent record label, based in Ipswich.
There is no preference to genre, I work with bands that I like and that I hope you will like.
.announcement.
Dead Ship Records will soon be shutting down, indefinitely. I'm not 100% ruling out starting it up again in the future, but after one more release, it will be inactive.
When the idea for Dead Ship first came about, myself and Dave were both gigging regularly, were about to embark on a pretty mammoth tour and both had time and money to really throw ourselves into it. We both had loads of ideas and were both passionate about implementing them.
However, mid-way through the tour Dave came decided, understandably, that he couldn't commit to co-running the label and had doubts about Short Term Diary as well. I was obviously disappointed, but I was still keen to carry on by myself.
But, unfortunatly...
About a month after I returned from touring, I too decided to stop playing music live. This was nothing to do with the label; I just felt I had taken aflightoremember as far as I feasibly could. It didn't feel like I was giving it my all anymore and I always said I would stop playing when that started to happen. I had a wonderful five years gigging, touring and releasing things but I felt it was time for a change.
Unfortunately, I also realized that I wasn't going to be in a position to run a record label either. My heart just wasn't in it anymore and that wouldn't be fair to the bands we had already spoken to. My life had been solely centered around music for the last five years - writing, recording, releasing, gigging, touring, promoting and I just felt completely burnt out after the tour. I needed a break. Also, the fundamental facts were - I didn't have enough money to go it alone and I didn't have enough experience to go it alone. Combined, myself and Dave could really have made it work, but separately, no (this is nothing against Dave, i get the feeling it would have been the same if i had left).
It's a real shame, because I really wanted to have a go at this, but it would be stupid to attempt it half arsed.
The split 7" between myself and Short Term Diary is still available from many places (see on this page), so please buy it. It was fucking fun to put together.
They are all fantastic and I would love to have released something by them.
There will still be one more release before it's all over however.

FINAL RELEASE
The final Dead Ship Records release will be the aflightoremember Disgography (dsr002).
Details are still being put together for it at the moment, but I can tell you it will be 3 disks, over 100 tracks and the artwork will be lovely, folded wonderfulness. It will feature every aflightoremember song released/recorded/demoed. Not all of it will be pretty, but it will be all the recordings from 2003-2007. More information - price/release date/artwork will be coming soon, so keep checking back on here or over at the aflightoremember myspace.
*there may be a short compilation released with this, featuring all the above mentioned bands.
