About me:

My name is Sara. That's Hebrew for 'Princess' or 'Refined Lady'. It's associated with beauty (speaking with out my ego here!) but also with impudence.

I have been deaf since birth most people say "wow you speak well"
my replied was "I have had many yrs of speach therapy and I am lip reader!. but when necessary, I will sign.

The majority of the people I deal with, in my private and business life, are not hearing imparied.
I would prefer to say judge the deaf/hard of hearing, or those with any type of disability on the basis of their abilities.

I have two sons who are teenagers
my kids have normal hearing. My deafness was due to my mother's have contracted german measles during pregnancy, so is not genetic. both of my sons, who are proud to have deaf mom.



p.s. if you are wondering how I came up with this name deafone? some people will say, "who is sara? the other will say, "the deaf one" LOL hope you got a chuckle there!
