About me:
This is the Deakin Law Students' Society Burwood Chapter Myspace. If you'd like to access the Geelong Chapter Myspace, simply click on the link in our 'friends' section.

The Deakin Law Students' Society is a society for law students, run by law students. What exactly do we do I hear you ask... Where to start! Remember the last Law Ball that you went to? It was organised by the DLSS. Remember the Careers Guide that you read through while applying for Articled/Seasonal Clerkships? It was designed and printed by the DLSS. And what about that competition that you entered into last year? Again, organised by the DLSS. We could keep going. Essentially, the DLSS organises functions, competitions, careers fairs, seminars and guides, inter-varsity competitions, education briefs, numerous publications, discussion groups and much, much, more - everything that we feel law students should have.

YOU! Get involved, participate in DLSS competitions, attend our seminars, and come and enjoy a few cold beers with us at our social events. It is never too late to get involved. You will only get out of university what you yourself put in, so take that extra step and enjoy it. Watch this space guys. Add us as a friend and look out for information on future goings on and shenanigans. PHOTOS
All the photos from all our DLSS events are up on the website, so get to http://www.deakinlss.org/gallery/default.asp to relive all those great (and not so great) memories!

WHY YOU SHOULD FILL OUT THE STUDENT EVALUATIONS

There are lots of reasons that you should fill out the student evaluations, but apart from the obvious reasons, here are a few thing you may not know:

* Each school receives some of their budget based on the number of student evaluations completed - don't ask me why, but it's true and perhaps if we had some more cash we could have tutes!
* The uni takes them very seriously and decisions are actually made on the feedback contained
* With the introduction of trimesters, we need tutes back more than ever, so tell the uni that!
* When the school of law got rid of tutes, all lecturers were told to spend time each week doing revision problems to compensate.
This is your chance to let the law school know if this happened or not!

GOT AN ISSUE WITH THE NEW TRIMESTERS?

Whilst trimesters are here to stay, the DLSS is currently looking at ways to minimise their impact on law students.

Things we are looking at including having no law exams on the first three days of the exam period, having tutes in the last 3-6 weeks of semester to assist with revision and problem questions etc

However to make a fully informed submission to the School of Law we need your thoughts.

Regardless of what campus you are on, go to DLSS forum at http://www. deakinlss. org/zforum/phpBB3/index. php and under general discussion post a message about what you would like to see happen.
