HERstory...Most people in the music industry would list winning a GRAMMY as a 1 accomplishment, but ask Deanna and she would say, "I could die tomorrow and feel accomplished. I sang "Ribbon In The Sky" at Boston's The Wang Center in front of a crowd of thousands while Stevie Wonder accompanied me on piano...and to boot I got a standing "O"! A GRAMMY would be great and I aspire to that, but I don't know what else could trump that night with Stevie!" Deanna has WOW written all over her!
Born in a suburb north of Boston, Deanna learned early how to drop her r's and sing her ass off! Her mother filled their home with the music of Wonder, Streisand and Presley, helping Deanna to appreciate musical diversity early on. With her hairbrush in hand, Deanna made the family basement her stage and practiced her singing along with Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Patsy Cline records. From there she discovered Prince, Sting, and Patti Labelle furthering her versatility as a singer and songwriter.
While most seniors in high school were filling out college apps, Deanna was recording a professional demo. Taking a break from a vocal session, she was singing, putting quarters into her parking meter. It was then that a staff member at Berklee College of Music discovered Deanna. Impressed by her singing abilities, she was placed into the prestigious college's 5 week extensive Summer performance program. By the end of it, Deanna had wowed the institution into giving her a full tuition scholarship to study. Emerging with a BA in Music Business and Management, Deanna moved to NYC to pursue her career. In 2008, Deanna set her sights on LA!
Deanna has had the honor of performing with Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Yolanda Adams, Cece Winans, Crystal Waters, Veronica, Joan Osborne, The Chieftains, Martha Wash, Ann Nesby, Byron Stingly, Angelo & Veronica, War, Average White Band, Eileen Ivers, Sissel, G. Love & Special Sauce, Sweet Sensation, Ric Wes, Classic Example, The Heavy Metal Horns, Neil Stubenhaus, Casey Shurell, Steve Smith of Journey, and Lisa Page of Witness. Deanna has been invited to entertain Patti Labelle, Oleta Adams, Terri Lynne Carrington, Armand Zildjian, Horace Silver, Arif Mardin, Joyce Kulhawik, Alan Silvestri, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, and Pat Metheny.
Deanna's singing and songwriting can be heard in film and tv projects such as: "Sex and the City", "The Sopranos", "Melrose Place", "Seventh Heaven", MTV's Laguna Beach and the Showtime original movie "The Tiger Woods Story, to name a few. Deanna has sung on national campaign spots for Nabisco, Proctor & Gamble, Mattel, Siemens Technologies, Fila, ESPN, and BJs Wholesale Club.
In 2000, she co-wrote and sang the massive dance single, "Higher", produced by 1999 Grammy winner, David Morales & Albert Cabrera, which went to 3 on the Billboard charts.
Deanna's album cuts include: Universal recording artist: Bret Ryan, Universal Classics/Decca recording artists: Three Graces, Sony/BMG artists: Storm, PHI/DEP/Universal artist: Slim Williams, EsNtion recording artist: Danielle Bollinger, Strip City Records recording artist: Dian Diaz.
Deanna is a proud member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the American Federation Of Television And Radio Artists (AFTRA), and Actors Equity Association (AEA). She was also awarded The Heineken Music Initiative / The ASCAP Foundation R&B Grant for her song "I've Been Waiting (Someone Like You).
Deanna is excited about current collaborations with MoZella (Motown), Tyler Shamy, Shoshana Bean, Alex Cartana, Stephen Wrabel, Bleu, The Killer Heels, & MORE!
