Todo mundo sabe que hoje é o dia dedicado à mentira e que as crianças adoram planejar brincadeiras e pegadinhas para aplicar nos colegas nesse dia. Tudo bem: isso é saudável e lúdico já que há um contexto para tanto. Porém, hoje quero falar da importância de se ensinar o amor à verdade aos filhos.
Em tempos em que os pais estão ocupadíssimos em preparar os filhos para o futuro no sentido prático e instrumental, um grande número deles se esquece de que a base da educação familiar reside em outro foco: na transmissão das tradições familiares e na educação moral.
Desde pequenas as crianças já podem aprender a importância que devemos dar à verdade. Mas, vamos reconhecer: tem sido muito difícil ensinar o valor da verdade no mundo contemporâneo. Vou tomar a Internet como um dos elementos que torna isso ainda mais difícil.
Não há dúvida alguma de que a ampla divulgação de todo o tipo de informação que ocorre na internet é importante. Entretanto, como qualquer pessoa pode publicar qualquer coisa na internet, como saber se as informações encontradas correspondem à verdade?
Vamos considerar um aluno que busca na internet conteúdos para realizar um trabalho escolar. Para saber se o que encontrou é digno de confiança em relação ao conhecimento, é preciso ter uma bagagem teórica muito sólida, o que os estudantes ainda não têm porque estão em formação para ter. Por isso, podem valorizar conteúdos sem nenhum rigor científico. O mais sensato seria incentivar os alunos a pesquisarem o conhecimento em publicações fidedignas, como os livros, por exemplo.
Voltemos è educação moral. Uma criança pequena depende dos pais para viver, por isso precisa confiar neles. Se ela percebe que os pais mentem a ela – e as crianças percebem isso rapidamente e com clareza – perde a confiança nos pais e, como conseqüência, tem seu desenvolvimento prejudicado, além de passar a dar valor à mentira.
No cotidiano, os adultos cometem pequenas mentiras para preservar sua intimidade, sua privacidade. Um exemplo: mandar dizer que não está para evitar um telefonema de trabalho em horário de descanso. Mas isso precisa ser explicado à criança para que ela não passe a valorizar a mentira.
Algumas atitudes dos pais, que são observados atentamente pelos filhos, podem ensinar a mentira aos filhos. Arrumar atestado médico para justificar a falta em dia de prova quando ele não esteve doente; orientar o filho a dizer que o pneu do carro do pai furou para explicar o atraso na chegada da escola; encontrar para o filho alguma desculpa que justifique sua falha na escola. Todos esses exemplos são reais e apontam a direção contrária à de uma boa educação moral.
Por isso, o dia da mentira até tem seu valor: o de indicar que a mentira intencional, desde que não prejudique nem desrespeite ninguém, é aceitável. Mas apenas nesse dia.
