"Portal" is the culmination of many years of musical collaboration between the members of the Deardorf/Peterson Group. Members of the group have performed together in countless clubs, concerts and recording sessions, and this release documents the high level of musical communication between these skilled and multifaceted artists. Guitarist Dave Peterson composed the majority of songs on the CD, and they highlight Dave's melodic and harmonically rich palette, as well as serving as an ideal vehicle for improvisation. The release also spotlights the long personal and musical friendship between bassist Chuck Deardorf and guest pianist George Cables, who have performed and taught together on the road and at the Port Townsend Jazz Festival for many years.
The CD release "Portal" was brilliantly recorded and mixed by Reed Ruddy at Studio X,
Seattle, with mastering by Ross Nyberg.
