Deasonika story began in 2001 as the band met young musician and producer Marco Trentacoste during the recording sessions of their debut ‘L’uomo del secolo’. Marco is known for his contribute as a sound engineer, producer and guitarist for many Italian artists such as Le Vibrazioni, Delta V, Malfunk and Rezophonic. At the end of those recording sessions Marco joined the band as a guitarist. Deasonika soon caught all Italian rock radio stations’ attention being a favourite pick in their playlists. The number of well-established artists who mentioned them as one of the most interesting Italian bands increased day by day. Their first video ‘Cliché’’, directed by today’s popular Italian videoclip maker Maky Ghezzi, was one of top choices on MTV Brand New. All this happened without any boost by a record company. The band initially found a distribution deal with Edel Italia who at that time, wishing to host the best of Italian new indipendent artists, was launching a new brand called Volume. Later on Deasonika signed to Edel for a second, larger scale album. On May 2004, four months before their second album was released, their single ‘Il giorno della mia sana follia’ began to be part of several Italian radio networks’ playlists, especially those open to new upcoming releases, arousing great interest in the audience week after week. During January 2005, back from a promotional tour with participations to important festivals such as Tora!Tora! and Arezzo Wave, the band hit the road with a massive club tour that engaged them for the first half of the year and later on during the summer festivals period (check out the live section for updates). The single ‘il giorno della mia sana follia’ was followed by a videoclip (once again directed by Maki Gherzi who soon began to be firmly screened by all italian music networks (MTV, All Music, Rock Tv). On January 2006 their third album was released, containing two brand new singles: ‘Non Dimentico Più’, presented at the 56th Sanremo Festival, ‘La Mia Veste, featuring a string section directed by Fabio Gurian, plus 11 electro-unplugged reappraisals of the first two albums. One of the most interesting passage of the album is the cover of ‘Calling You’, main theme from the ‘Baghdad Café’ and ‘Betrayal (00:16)’ movie soundtracks, who featured a very special guest: Killing Joke’s lead singer Jaz Coleman, one of the most predominant and influencing artists of the last two decades, taken as a model by bands such as U2, Nirvana and Metallica. The band, hugely influenced by Killing Joke’s sound throughout its career, was truly honoured by the appreciation shown by Jaz who was deeply touched by Deasonika’s latin and at the same time international style. In the following period the band released a video for ‘Non Dimentico Più’ and hit the road once again with an unplugged tour. Later on was the time to go back to the electric side of their live perfomances starting with a ‘Brand New Night’ show produced by MTV that got them to share the stage with Belle and Sebastian. The touring proceeded with several summer festival appearances and brought them to meet one of the most important names of the international rock scene as they opened several Italian shows for Placebo. In the meantime they took part to Rezophonic: a non-profit ensemble supporting AMREF Italia and its water supply project that involved Marco trentacoste as a guitarist/producer and Max Zanotti as a singer and co-writer for several tracks among which is L'Uomo di Plastica. Rezophonic project’s main task, whose motto is to ‘buy a drink to those who really need it’, is the creation of new wells in the most dry region of East Africa such as Kajado, on the borders between Kenya and Tanzania.. Marco and Max both received a plate certifing the built of the first two wells. The summer tour came to an end and the band shot a video for ‘La mia veste’, a winter electric tour followed as scheduled.

Da soprassedere perché troppo vicino ai modelli americani (Mush, Anticon, Plug Research) e/o berlinesi (Scape, Morr)? Troppo facile. Più gratificante è cercare le citazioni letterarie sparse (Lee Masters e Carver, oltre alla napoleonica corrispondenza d’amorosi sensi del titolo), crogiolarsi negli accenti patetici che lo costellano senza tregua, cogliere i numerosi intarsi naif dei fin troppo scriccioli brani, bearsi delle illogicità nelle introflesse strutture-canzone. ..
