In 1999 Caelum Bliss, with a polished new sound and direction, opted to switch monikers and Deathgirl.com was formed while working alongside Detroit techno producer/songwriter Dennis White (Inner City, Charm Farm, the Static Revenger). White produced 4 songs for this short-lived incarnation, the remaining tracks of their eponymously titled CD were produced by deathgirl's guitarist Tony Hamera. The CD "deathgirl.com" was met with enthusiasm and praise for its catchy, high energy pop anthems. Deathgirl.com finally disbanded in the fall of 2001. You can catch former members of Deathgirl.com in the dreampop quartet Ether Aura.
"Their sound combines the pop sensibilities of Garbage combined with the sensual goth tendencies of Curve. It's an exciting sound that captures all of the best elements of today's music -- abrasive guitars, powerful female vocals, and sampled bits of electronica." Mike Pfeiffer (OD Magazine)
"Best described as techno-synth pop with dark scathing edges, deathgirl.com is disturbing, demented fun." Ken Morton (Highwire Daze)
"Deathgirl.com self-titled Medea Records "Daddy," the first track on this album, starts off with a sped up Trance beat, and Melissa Emily's sweet vocals above. Perhaps this track is intended to scare off those who disapprove of heavy rock and electronica's recent marriage. They turn down the electronics a bit from there and bring in the guitars, sounding like a cross between Garbage and Jack Off Jill. It's hard to pigeonhole this band, since their music could almost be considered Pop, if not heavy Pop. Case in pointtheir cover of Madonna's "Lucky Star" has pretty heavy guitars, but it still is a pop song, with some vocoder altered vocals. There's even a guitar solo for crissakes. "All I Want" has a keyboard riff right out of A Flock of Seagulls's "I Ran." "Deathgirl (npfc mix)" starts off as a ballad, but evolves into a Drum N Bass influenced dance song. Pop, Rock or Electronica, Deathgirl.com does it all, and does it well."
"Pieces"-Deathgirl.com.....
I remember this band used to be really popular locally, back in the late 90s. I think they got as much local press as the White Stripes, and even tied with them in a reader's poll category of "Best Local Band to Make It Big Next". Although, I think they've broken up since. Also, the band name sounds like they'd be some electronic goth band, and the singer does tell her boyfriend "I'll tear you...apart into Pieces...one by one.." (and it sounds like he deserves it), but the track is pure alt-pop"
