The gravedigger group Deathlike Silence was founded in 2003 and it plays a dark coloured, melodic, atmospheric metal, spiced with strong horror-romance elements, and performed with the dignity of a gravedigger. In short: Gravedigger metal. The group has built a strong image with lyrics, dressing, stage properties and logos etc. They have even got their own hearse for carrying their instruments.
The band has also gotten attention due to their skills: A lead singer with a strong voice (Ms. Maya), lead guitar virtuoso (Mr. Cerberus) and of course convincing live performances. The band comes from the Turku area in Finland. Band's debut album 'Vigor Mortis' was released in february 2007 and the tune 'Six Feet Under The Ground' was a lot on the air in finnish rock related radio stations during the year. Now they are ready to release their second album 'Saturday Night Evil'. Releasing will happen in Finland in January 2009 and Europe release in March 2009.
