In solidarietà agli attivisti austriaci arrestati
Dal 21 maggio 2008 il movimento di liberazione animale austriaco deve far i conti con un’ ondata di repressione senza precedenti. Nelle prime ore del mattino agenti armati della forza speciale WEGA 23 hanno perquisito appartamenti e uffici di gruppi e associazioni animaliste a Vienna, Graz, in Tirolo e Kaernten. 10 persone sono state arrestate. Sono accusate di “associazione a delinquere”, in relazione ad azioni dirette contro varie aziende legate allo sfruttamento animale. Le persone e i gruppi colpiti erano attivi nella campagna contro l’azienda di moda Kleider-Bauer. Inoltre, questa operazione di polizia ha toccato diverse associazioni animaliste e la Vegan Society austriaca, a cui sono stati sottratti indirizzari, computer, telefoni.
Questi tentativi di intimidazione hanno provocato diverse azioni di solidarietà con gli arrestati. A Vienna e Graz si sono svolti cortei di solidarietà il giorno stesso degli arresti, a cui hanno partecipato fino a 200 persone. Nelle settimane seguenti ci sono stati presidi di solidarietà davanti a consolati e ambasciate austriache in tutto il mondo.
