Chris Dahlberg in CosmosGaming.com says:
"It’s nice to see long running members of the punk community go and try something different that incorporates some of the genre’s elements yet extends into a very different sound. Death & Taxes has certainly done this. Fans of the Boston punk scene will find this to be an extremely enjoyable album. Tattooed Hearts and Broken Promises is a pleasant surprise, and shows that a band can mix bar room sleaziness with a knack for storytelling and come out with admirable results."

Excerpt from "Loud Fast Rules" column by Mark Lind (Ducky Boys, Sinners & Saints, Dirty Water) on the new Death & Taxes recording.....
"...but now he's back playing rock n' roll again in a band called Death & Taxes that all of you MUST hear. They make Steve Earle sound like a pussy. And more importantly (to me) Jeff has once again humbled me with his incredible songwriting. I've spent the past 10 years striving to be as good as him and my other heroes like Tim Armstrong (not even close to that goal yet) and Jeff comes back and in one fell swoop he knocks me back on my ass and back 10 years. I'm not sure I am giving this record the recommendation it truly deserves. But I hope you're at least curious to hear it because when we sit here and agree that rock n' roll is not what it could be, this record is a glimmer of hope. So get your ass over to http://www.myspace.com/deathntaxesband and hear this band. And then realize that the next Rolling Stones…. The next Tom Petty… the next Bruce Springsteen is not going to be given to you. You will have to find it. And that link is a good place to start."
Death & Taxes won Best Rock Band 2007 in the Spotlight Music Awards...

A little history... Jeff Morris (vocals, guitar) was a founding member of the Bruisers, guitarist and songwriter from 1988 to 1996, writing the songs from "American Night", "Independence Day", "Cruisin for a Bruisin'", "Gates of Hell" and "Up In Flames".In 1996 he left and later formed instro-rockers Cadillac Hitmen with Steve Toland (drums). Mike Savitkas (bass) also played in the Bruisers, playing bass on the September '05 reunion show in Boston. We've been playing from NH to NYC since October '05 and we're in and around Boston at least a couple times a month so come by and say hey.
