THE TREES
Up in the mountain where they cleared away the trees Up in the mountain where they cleared away the trees I’m looking through the clearing as far as I can see
I see the white hot hills I see the river split in two I see the white hot hills I see the river split in two Well there ain’t no telling what the water’s gonna do
I see the waters rush to the center of town I see the waters rush to the center of town They got no idea. The rain’s a’ coming down
I see a smart dressed man floating with a silver cane I see a smart dressed man floating with a silver cane I have this beggar man float by with his cup of rain
I see an old pack mule caught up in the clothesline I see an old pack mule caught up in the clothesline I see a trunk of old pictures they got left behind
I see an angel cryin sitting by the side of the road I see an angel cryin sitting by the side of the road She says walk with me and we can share this heavy load
Back in the mountain where they cleared away the trees Back in the mountain where they cleared away the trees Me and my angel are planting seeds.

Death of Me Live at the Campout:PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and THE TREES from that Video Empresario... iamacracker
I put so many songs through The SongBook site and here, I sometimes overlook the beautiful Death of Me album, Life's So Hard Make It Softer.
It will always be a very personal album. What Mike Wilkerson, Matt Kjorvestad and I we able to put together in the 4 short nights in the studio before Mike's death has a heart and soul you would wish on any band or their music. Years from now this album will be as fresh and meaningful as that last time we played together. --Chris LeRoy

DEATH OF ME: LIFE'S SO HARD MAKE IT SOFTER
Bulletin from Jason:
"Don't Whisper" by Death Of Me
Every now and then a song will jump out and absolutley move you. Well, it's happened to me again recently. "Don't Whisper" by Death Of Me, from their debut album "Life Is Hard, Make It Softer" is my late night Hwy 68 driving home from work soundtrack. I often keep repeating it until I make it home (a 27 mile commute). It's currently posted on the Death Of Me Myspace page (as well as some other gems). If you like what you hear let them know and by all means add them. I'd like to bring them up to Monterey for a gig.
Take Care,
Jason

Comment from acffhmorst:
I have not had a single favorite song in a while, but the studio version of LAST TRAIN really is treating me right lately. I like it as much as I liked Elton John's SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT when I was in first grade!!
Runner ups at this time are CLOSE CALL and LET IT DROWN reprise.- MORST
DEATH OF ME: LIFE'S SO HARD MAKE IT SOFTER
From Garod:
Life's So Hard(Make it Softer) - Death of Me
I am biased, but I know that between Let it Drown and Following a River... this disc belongs in my favorites of the year. What's even more interesting is that in addition to the haunting piano laden version of Let it Drown, you get a knee-slapping jam to the same track later on that illustrates a duality in life that sums up perfectly the album.

You may like to check out my recently released book - 100 Great Albums. It's a 220 page review of the best music recorded during the period 1965-08 featuring the Beatles,Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, Joy Division, U2, Nirvana, Radiohead, the Strokes and many more! Also, 500 vital album tracks are spotlighted (split between five categories... pre-1970, the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000-08).
My aim is to prolong the existence of something close to my heart, something currently under severe threat from the download generation - The Album! With the modern world increasingly more interested in cherry-picking individual tracks, it seems to me a great shame that the sacred long-player is losing its importance. I'm on a mission to save the album before it's too late. All musicians, whether new or old to the scene, can appreciate the importance of that.
If you click on the button below you can access further details about the book (including an option to preview some of the content) before deciding whether you want to buy. All the best Andy.
Hi ~ love your music nd it makes life feel a little softer ~ the special blend stirs the spirit, moves the heart and soothes the soul in an enchanting way with a twist of southern rock ~ definitely a cut above with each song having a very distinctive sound. Thanks so much for adding me as a friend. Blessings! Suz
Welcome to Billy's Bunker (Music Reviews)! It's been busy in the Bunker.
The latest review is of Wussy's self-titled CD released this month. That album is folk honest and rock hard. Chuck Weaver's guitar sound should be patented as "Wingéd Agony." This album by Wussy is a sexy, spiritual, human experience with folk honesty and cluster bombs of rock 'n' roll.
