Death Penalty Focus is a non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of capital punishment through grassroots organizing, research, and the dissemination of information about the death penalty and its alternatives.

We believe:

that the death penalty is an ineffective and simplistic response to the serious and complex problem of violent crime.
Diverting attention and financial resources away from the death penalty and towards preventative measures would actually increase personal safety.
the United States should join the growing community of nations throughout the world who have already abolished capital punishment.

In the last week, the Sacramento Bee has published several op-eds on the death penalty, multiple news stories, and their most compelling editorial to date on the issue. They have now called for submissions on the death penalty for next week's forum. It is very important we seize this opportunity to submit as many anti-death penalty letters as possible. Letters should be short and simple - no more than 300 words! Even letters that include nothing more than the statement, "I am opposed to the death penalty." will be helpful! Mike Ferrell's speech was so close to my heart that i could not help from breaking down. I wish more people understood the mission of the cause, and the kind of people you might meet on this road to abolish the death penalty.

Our verdict: the death penalty is dead wrong! Is the Death Penalty on the Way Out? A CEDP Presentation Wednesday, February 27 at 7 PM At UT, NOA Room 1.116. From the Supreme Court moratorium due to a case about lethal injection, high profile cases like that of Kenneth Foster, Jr. in Texas, to abolition of the death penalty in New Jersey, support for the death penalty continues to slowly decline.
