I arrived in Japan with my missionary parents when I was only two. Back then it was expected for a missionary family to be RAGGEDLY POOR, and RAGGEDLY POOR we were. All through my growing up years we wore clothes that had been donated for welfare, and lived on a total of $360 a month.

To say that I was raised with a poverty mentality is the understatement of the year. Rich people were considered evil and selfish, and the pursuit of wealth was the quintessential waste of time just short of selling one’s soul.

Now don’t misunderstand me, it wasn’t a dark and gloomy environment, and we had a lot of fun, but success of any kind was frowned on, and I learned to stop myself just short of excellence in any field.

I’ve followed in my parent’s footsteps, and have a passion for teaching people the amazing and life-giving truths found in the Bible, but I’m afraid I didn’t inherit their incredible ability to live on a shoestring budget. In fact, I don’t even think it’s right. MONEY BUYS TIME, and you can’t take time to work with people, or pursue any passion if you spend most of your time simply working to make ends meet.

My job, teaching English Conversation classes, was in the evenings after people got off work, but that was the very time people were available to attend Bible studies as well, so I was forced to set aside my passion, and simply work to make ends meet. Not good. I decided to see if I couldn’t supplement my income by starting an online business.

I started with some misgiving, almost as if I was treading on forbidden land, but soon realized that having the tools to follow your dream is the very best position to be in, and that it is indeed possible.

Generating an online income is possible, but for me it wasn’t easy. For years I tried different online home business opportunities one after another. I was not a quitter or someone who jumps around. I spend 6 hr. days for months with each one, and just didn’t get much of anywhere.

I’m afraid it took quite a few repetitions before I started to see a pattern. Most of the products or programs were terrific. The people were wonderful. The products were life changing. I of course purchased some, and got healthier, slimmer, more intelligent and more knowledgeable about marketing. I was sure the rest of the online community could see the value in these products, so I signed up, paid my dues, and, bam, hit the same wall I had always hit.

Indeed, they would have been interested, had they seen my offer, but I just couldn’t get TARGETED TRAFFIC, no matter how hard I tried. I’d paid thousands in marketing courses, and knew a zillion methods. I could spout all the possible pitfalls of Google Adwords in my sleep (and had at one time or another fallen into most of them myself.) I had hundreds of safelist accounts, thousands of Myspace friends, and even a few of my own lists with several hundred people in each one, but, alas, no income.

Finally the light began to dawn. I was being sabotaged by two big purple monsters: INDECISION and LACK OF FOCUS.

It was as this light began to dawn that I heard a webinar by a Jonathan Budd that helped me nail down the problem and immediately come up with a solution. Someone had asked the speaker which marketing technique to start with, and Jonathan's answer was brilliant:

"I can tell you what I think would work best, but the fact is, I don’t know what your particular strengths are.

"If I recommend video marketing, and you don’t speak well, you can struggle with it, learn, practice and improve until your skill level is a 9 out of 10, but you will still only be as good as those people who were a 9 naturally. You will be just starting to get traffic for all that effort.

"If, on the other hand, you are good at writing, and choose article marketing because you are attracted to it, you will be good at it from the start, and it will have been the fastest road to success for you.

"I recommend you find what you are best at, and start there. You can work on the skills you need to develop along the way, after you get some traffic coming in from the avenues that are easiest for you."

Jonathan Budd was right on. I started focusing on only one source at a time, and although my success wasn’t fast or easy, from that moment, I knew there was NOTHING that could stop me.

Perhaps you are struggling with internet marketing. Perhaps you’re just thinking about getting started. Let me give you a quick pointer that will shave years off your learning curve, and quite likely make the difference in whether you will succeed or fail.

Think of having a business online as being like a jigsaw puzzle. There are a mind boggling number of pieces. You have to have the right mindset. My childhood heritage of refusing to succeed was one thing I had to overcome. You need an offer or opportunity that has real value. You need great sales pages and ad copy. You need a place to advertise, and ways to attract traffic to your offer. Those are just a few of the pieces, and frankly, most systems and opportunities give you just one or two of the pieces.

Most people trying to get started online find a piece here and a piece there, and attempt to put them all together to make a complete picture. Often they find that the pieces weren’t even all to the same puzzle, and if they do collect all they need, they find there just isn’t enough time or resources to implement them all. That’s why 98% of people who start out online end up quitting before they succeed.

Enter the solution. This is incredible, but it’s true. Jonathan Budd is only 24 years old, but he’s managed to put together a program that INCLUDES ALL THE PIECES to the puzzle.
