Hank WIlliams, Otis Redding, Patsy Cline, Edith Piaf,George Jones, Johnny Rivers, Dylan, the Byrds, Kitty Wells,Tammy Wynette, Janis, Tom Waits, heat lightning.........beautiful sunsets.......Gram Parsons....and Joshua Tree sunrises......Delta blues riffs pouring from a country store porch......with the trees hummin' keepin' time........dreams.....Buck Owens, Jimmy Hendrix.....oh yeah..Jimmy....Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli, Mavis Staples..and the Staple singers.......Bonnie Raitt, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, two hour baths, foghorns blowing in the middle of the night.......so mournful......and bittersweet......Carlos Santana....with the windows down.......drivin' through Arizona..listening to Nakai........Dwight Yoakum, Steve Earle...( leave me alone I'm listenin' to Earle )...Bill Monroe,J.D.Crowe and the New South, The Kentucky Colonels........ in fact nothing can beat those bluegrass harmonies..........good harmony singing is better than........well pretty dang close..at least it was until recently.....and nothin can hold a candle to that.....guess you could say I agree with Duke Ellington...there are only two kinds of music...good and the other kind.........my Great Uncle had a traveling group of Gospel singers, shape note singers.....his daughters also sang with him........God Bless him.......Uncle J.J., he knew harmony singing......God fearing man..but he could sing like the devil...........guess he was my first influence......then Dallas MItchell.........we are all influenced by everything everyday........what is important is to be Real. be True, sing and play like it is the last thing you are ever gonna do.........and love everyone..........but take no bullshit.....
first exposure to guitar was in a cotton field in Arkansas.I wasa skinny 6 year old kid..Dallas Mitchell.....kept his guitar with him in his old truck, when he would go out to the fields......he would play all the old songs I would tromp cotton and listen to him sing...sing along with him.....since then: from here to Nashville,Savannah and Kennesaw Georgia, East coast, west,Oregon, Colorado, the Deserts and in between...featured guest on a live country Radio show every weekend in LA...with the likes of JD Manness,Rose Lee Maphis,Al Perkins, Rosie Flores, Jack Daniels ( of Highway 101 )and to many more to mention...background vocals for Joe Houston.also worked with the Fowler Brothers, Albert Wing, some of Dwights band, Summerdog, at the old Sweetwater Cafe, Vince Gill, Byron Berline, Dennis Fetchet,speaking of great fiddle players....where is Brantley???and (God Bless you) Sneeky Pete,heck that was a happening place for good music.......track on a Shane O'Brian album, Marty Rifkin..man he is a fine steel player too..opened for Chuck Alvarez, vocals on on of Seatbelts albums,shoot........anywhere and everywhere I have sang........and played.......from Honky Tonks to Black Churches........frontporches to outdoor stages.....festivals, benefit concerts, just live inside your heart..that's what Carlos said.......
Hi deb, came in for some of your great sound,,,, Boy the moon was so bright on Monday night I had to wear sunglasses...lol Really beautiful...Last night was pretty bright, tonight, I think we have clouds coming in.. The moon will be getting smaller any way. How have you been,? Hope all is well out there in calif land? Its starting to get chilly out, last night got down to 37 but today was 51.. not winter yet..
