DEBBIE WATSON, BIO:
Six years ago, a diminutive singer with a Big Smile, a Big Voice, and Big Hair pulled into Nashville with her cat, three dogs, trailer with possessions in tow, and a deep determination.
After a successful career on the Houston, Texas circuit as lead and harmony singer for several bands, member of an all-girl trio, and lead for her own band, Debbie Watson was ready to make her mark at the epicenter of country music.
This year, as she promotes her first album, Big Hair Down In Texas (Big Hair Records), Watson is well on her way to becoming a force in the genre, both in the U.S. and Europe.
Debbie's style is unique, but she reminds some of Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, and possibly Wanda Jackson. There might be some traces of Linda Ronstadt in there, too, she says.
The singer/songwriter (who also plays piano, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle) describes her album as western swing meets bluegrass meets rockabilly. Friend Monique Grezlik wrote the title track as a tribute to the weekly ritual Texas Women follow every Saturday night before going honky-tonking: teasing and spraying their hair to epic heights. We like to say the higher the hair, the closer to God! Debbie laughs. That sense of humor and fun is a common thread through her work, and makes her an audience favorite at live gigs.
I want people to have a lot of fun and feel like they've connected with me and me with them, and that we know a little bit about each other by the end of the evening, she says. And if they love my music too, well, that's a bonus!
Watson began her musical career at age six when she snuck over to the neighbors house to play their piano. After her parents relented and bought Debbie her own piano, she got serious about music and songwriting. She started performing at 17, later joining the female trio Sugar Creek; an (almost) all-attorney band, the Ambulance Chasers; and her own group Debbie Watson and the Hot Watts.
Today, her album is getting extensive airplay in Germany, Sweden, Belgium, France, Denmark, Austria, Romania, Japan, Spain, Croatia, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand; and her U.S. audience is growing by the day.
Given that, its clear that Debbie Watson and her Big Hair will be around for a long time.

I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.
