| General | Music is a spiritual thing, it touches the soul and makes everything else worthwhile. It can embrace and bring every emotion that a human can feel or experience to life. It is what feelings sound like. It is to the ear, what wine is to the glass and medicine to the soul. Damn, how poetic!
My parents were BBQ restaurant owners in Greensboro, NC and my Dad was a legend..during the early 50's. His business catered to the younger "Be-Bop" crowd and it was at this place in time, that I met the infamous "Elvis", who had rode into town on his Motorcycle. The notorious hangout called "The Paragon" was notoriously popular for him, and somehow he was directed over to my Dad's place to get BBQ.
My dad had a juke box and exterior speakers that played in the parking lot and as I got older, he allowed me to choose the tunes that would entertain the customers who drove up for curb service. Elvis, Chuck Berry, Coasters....Rock And Roll!
Fortunately, I was digging music in the early 60's listening to Motown and Rock & Roll, then one morning I woke up in the 70's where Hippies ruled, and peace was the major issue, and psychedelics took the music world on a freaking psychodelic-ass-kicking-mind-blowing magic carpet ride. And...I was there, loving every minute of it!
During my tour in the US Navy during the late 70's and early 80's, while stationed in Chicago, I met Marky Ramone of the Punk Rock Group, Ramones who failed to impress me at all...to say the least...a night that I should have taken a raincheck on, just never could dig the punk scene!
Blues and more blues is where I am today...and, courageously I add...,seriously considering a journey into the song-writing world. Keep ya posted on the progress!
