astrology (only personality and relationship stuff--no fortune telling)
oh yeah...music.
Music
I LOVE:
cute, depressed, boy groups
jazz (even the hard stuff)
DJ's who stay up all night cutting and pasting.
mariachis playing sad mexican love songs on a beach
girl singer-songwriters
loud, obnoxious rock-n-roll (especially in my car, especially in the spring)
friends picking guitar in my living room
friends playing a baby grand in someone else's living room
good rap
bad karaoke
old standards, like my mother sang while she washed dishes by hand at our kitchen sink
hip-hop
and I'm loving prog-rock these days
...but my favorite musical experience is falling asleep on the couch in Pat's studio at two in the morning while he's working on something new.
Movies
My dark secret: I LOVE really cheesy romantic comedies with happy endings I know it's wrong but I can't stop.
Television
I never watch T.V. except by accident.
Books
I read a lot. I get absorbed in authors, genres, subjects. Suggest a book, we'll see if I've read it. I was reading a lot of working scripts, because I just finished a screenplay with my beautiful writing partner, Lauralei Combs, but I started writing a book so I was researching the "Chic Lit" genre. Now I'm working on another screenplay, but I've become totally enthralled with the concept of finding Karma and past-lives in birth charts and I'm reading anything I can get my hands on about that subject.
Actually I'll read the back of a cereal box...
Heroes
Single parents and anyone who can make a living as an artist.
About me: I'm a minor student of quantum physics and human nature.
I'm obsessed with painters, The Modern in Fort Worth, white, high-thread count
Egyptian cotton sheets,
and the scent of jasmine when it floats in through my bedroom window in April.
I like small, dark clubs.
I live in
a bubble. I tend
not to stray from a few zip codes, but I love to travel to anywhere that requires a passport or has a beach.
I collect spheres of diverse materials.
I
love mashed potatoes
and a good steak. I used to be addicted to
sushi, but now
I'm down to twice a month.
I have a problem with phones. And cars, too, actually.
If
I could change one thing
about myself, I would become a little more linear, less
esoteric.
I love good red wine and good scotch.
I wish I still owned every painting I've ever
painted and every book I've ever read.
I love to cook for
people and watch them eat, and I love when people I love cook for me.
I think Bill Hicks was
channeling.
I am quietly spiritual.
I believe in magic.
I
love monogamy.
I
love serendipity.
I love strange, chance meetings under odd
circumstances.
I've been known to spend an entire Sunday
and never leave my bed.
Pettiness irritates me. So does
apathy. So does judgment.
I do not understand violence as entertainment, and I feel really alone in this.
I love my children.
I love the color red.
Who I'd like to meet: Cecily Brown, Richard Diebencorn, Nora Ephron, Nancy Meyers or anyone who can teach me a word I don't know.
