You've got to talk to me if you need to find help, or at least sympathy regarding your own problems with a mental health issue. I am trying to be an advocate for us all who have had any kind of mental illness.
Music
Mostly classical and lots of Jazz.
Movies
Everything new wave in the 1960s, 1970s especially the European varieties.
Television
I have a very difficult time understanding most of what is on the tube. It seems self-satisfied and stupid. I don't need updates on what drugs to buy or what cars to purchase serving as a way to see the nonnews as it is presented these days.
Books
I love my own book, Scags at 7, and also am a big fan of writers like Alice Munro, Stephen Millhauser and William Trevor. Being that they are all masters of the short story, it is easy to see why I love the short story. Too bad I don't write them very well.
Heroes
I don't believe we should have heroes, but if I had to point to someone, other than my partner, who I really admire, it would be Dennis Kucinich. I highly recommmend him to you as well.

GIVING A TALK ON WRITING

READING FROM SCAGS AT 7

Who I'd like to meet: people who are interested in issues related to mental illness. If you or someone you care about has a problem or needs help dealing with a severe mental illness, please read both my blog and the articles on my website.
I have taken my work as an advocate in the political sphere as well and am now with the Kucinich campaign as I feel that the world is in need of all who can sympathize with those with mental health problems.
