DEBORAH GRAY writes breakthrough jazz originals, which run the gamut of fresh swing tunes through to innovative nu-jazz grooves.
Not content to just re-hash jazz cover songs, Australian writer and singer Deborah Gray travelled to New York in the 1990's to study jazz and theatre. There she formed both a classic jazz trio and an experimental jazz quartet and performed in many of NYCs top clubs, including The Supper Club, Blue Note, Tatou, Bradleys, and Maxims.
Peforming with and winning the respect of many of the 'young lions' of the New York jazz scene, Deborah has performed with some of the brightest young jazz stars in the business, including Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove. Her original jazz tune "Feelin Fine" (featuring ROY HARGROVE ON TRUMPET) has since won a bronze medal in the International and South Pacific Song Contest, which has over 70 countries participating, including UK, USA, Australia and Japan)
After returning home to Australia, Deborah was asked to include two of her self-penned tunes on the soul/jazz/groove compilation CD "Undertones Volume3" which became one of the countrys best selling Australian nu-jazz albums and had the local music press and DJs in Australia and the United Kingdom singling out Deborahs fine vocals and compositions as being two of the most exciting tracks on that highly acclaimed album. She has composed songs for Olympic Gold Medalists Torvill & Dean's world tour and DEBORAH GRAY'S jazz/groove EP 'Still Got a Thing' became JJJ radio's CD of the month in it's first week of release.
Deborah's latest Jazz CD will be released later in 2008 and will include more of her New York recordings, her latest Aust. tracks, as well as featuring some of both country's finest jazz and beat players.
It's going to be an honor remixing your already wonderful creations. I'll message you with the info I'll need. Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity.
Hi Deborah, I hope you're well. Love "still got a thing"!!
I wanted to let you know about my latest project.
“Turning Wine into Water” I have created an Album of music made entirely from Wine related objects. I am donating all proceeds to get a Water Well dug in Ethiopia.
I am determined to make the Well a reality. They are installed by some inspirational non profit people called wellwishers.
For the price of a glass of wine, your download will help create a Well.
To find out more and download the “Wine into Water” Music go to www.winemusic.biz
There is water just metres underground but there is no way of villagers getting to it without the resources. As a result, people are dying from water contamination. The wells can only be built by blasting through many metres of rock If I get 1000 downloads, they get a well built. Each Well helps 650 people.
We're 15% of the way there thanks to you all digging deep.
Thank you Deborah for the friendship! very cool music in here.. "nature Boy"-remix is definitely nice!! all the best for your project and a big hug from Italy by Bruskers
