Celebrated jazz vocalist Deborah Lippmann is proud to announce the debut of her new album, Vinyl, the highly anticipated follow up to her 2004 release, nightingale. Comprised of cover tracks and a few originals, this special new recording – to be released in April 2007 – features Lippmann’s unique jazz interpretations of famous rock anthems originally recorded on, you guessed it, vinyl.
Lippmann’s breathtaking voice and soulful spirit give these rock classics a new life as she sings them in a style uniquely her own. The album includes versions of “Satisfaction” (originally recorded by The Rolling Stones), “Message in a Bottle” (originally recorded by The Police), “Need You Tonight” (originally recorded by INXS), and “You Give Love a Bad Name” (originally recorded by Bon Jovi).
Rounding out the album are two original recordings – “Make Me Love You” and “Beautifully Obvious” – both written by Lippmann and her record producers Darrell Brown and Greg Barnhill. Brown is a noted rock producer who has worked with artists including Neil Young, Donny Osmond and Jim Brickman. In addition, he produced various soundtracks and compilations for movies such as Cruel Intentions. Barnhill is a Grammy- nominated songwriter, as well as an accomplished vocalist and producer. He has produced for artists such as Etta James, Martina McBride, Jessica Simpson and Chicago.
Lippmann is also a renowned celebrity manicurist who works with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary J. Blige and Renée Zellweger. And so, the launch of the Vinyl CD will also coincide with a new collection of nail colors appropriately named Vinyl, to be sold exclusively at Bath & Body Works.
Each of the Vinyl nail colors will be named after a song on the Vinyl CD and is designed to provide perfect coverage, lasting color and (of course) vinyl-like shine.

Deborah Lippmann's ravishing voice evokes the lush life of smoky jazz clubs and a more glamorous time. Chanteuse cocktail noir with a dusky voice that drapes over the songs like a silk chemise lightly flecked with carnal exertion.
A dusty timeless, old leather binding feel to the lean arrangements that suggest as much from the space of what's left out as the lean notes that're played. The kind of thing you'd expect from Nina Simone, Peggy Lee at her most beyond… only these songs are not standards in the classic jazz sense, but a trolling of cockrock's finest.
Boys will be boys songs turned upside down, inside out and left stuffingless in the gulch beyond the dusty part of the road: “Satisfaction,”
All given a rhythm of their own, a rhythm like the slowest grind in a peep'n'brothel. Ennui soaked hip-flexing that says the pleasure is all your's. Yet somehow imbues that which should be threadbare a frission and a friction that grips the gear's teeth and perhaps through the nuance of the performances, the coaxing of irony and intent from war horses… Cocktailrockjazz, perhaps?
