Debra Davis is a compelling artist who writes hooky songs that hit deep.
People love her music because it’s uplifting and empowering---songs about real people and experiences, hope and survival, about who we are and why we’re here.
Many songs from her three CDs have been heard in films and on such TV
as “Dawson’s Creek,” “Summerland”, “Any Day Now” and “Beautiful People.”
Debra has attracted a big national following of fans who call themselves “debheads” (yes, it's true).
Debra’s new CD, “Complete,” is packed with some powerful and powerfully fun songs, and the single, “Born to Love You,” features a duet with 5-time Grammy winner Christopher Cross.
“These songs came from the sadness of goodbye and the awe of new life,”
says Debra. “In the course of a couple years I was dealing with loss of loved ones, and then the birth of my amazing daughter Ella.
So this album deals with the whole circle of life experience.”
“Supernatural High” from the new CD, as well as two other Debra songs,
are featured on the “Dawson’s Creek” Season 2 DVD, and the title track, “Complete,” is featured in Season 6 DVD soundtrack. Her songs “Angels in the Attic” and “The Way Things Used to Be” are selected tracks on the Dawson’s Creek Make Your Own CD at www.dawsonscreekcds.com.
Debra’s tunes can also be heard on retail store audio systems and on airlines, and on shows like “The Bold & The Beautiful (CBS),“ “Grapevine“ (NBC), “Undressed“ (MTV), “Lloyd, What Happened?” (HBO/Tom Hanks Prods.), “The Smokers” (HBO), “Implicated” (HBO and Cinemax), and the film “All You Need,” now airing on Lifetime TV.
Debra’s song, “Takin’ the Wheel,” is covered on the new CD by Rounder/Universal Records group “Malibu Storm.” Debra and her band are featured on a behind-the-scenes Real Artists Working video airing on PBS affiliate TV stations.
The young girl's book series "Avalon: Web of Magic" features Debra's lyrics and her songs on an accompanying CD by Sony Wonder.
Debra has aligned her music with numerous charitable endeavors. Inspired by the many children who love her music, Debra collected stories from young fans for her book “An Angel in My Life,” with a portion of the proceeds going to Reading Is Fundamental. Her songs are on several compilation CDs for good causes, including “It’s About Eve” for breast cancer research
and “Home” for Children International.
