Influences
blur & the related projects, eels, the beatles, the beach boys, arcade fire, radiohead, elbow, bon iver, fleet foxes, the kinks... all that stuff. books (i like a good spy story: preferably written before i was born. or a mystery written before my mother was born.) nice people (nice songs). not so nice people (not so nice songs). coffee. very select cuts of tv. pacino/de niro and their ouvre. asda "create your own" pizzas. the never-ending march of time, which raises the price of cheese and lowers the value of television.
Sounds Like
all of the music i've ever listened to... but on a much lower budget.
by the way- ignore the timings on my player. they're lying to you....
debt collector is one man in his bedroom making lo-fi music for people who like to escape into their heads. all of the songs are recorded (when the neighbours stop shouting for long enough) on equipment bought off of ebay. my whole set up cost less than my glasses... probably. embrace the overtones, crackle and rudimentary mixing... it's music from the wrong side of town
this is what www.anewbandaday.com said about me...
"Songs like Well Sprung are world-weary and tired; the instruments only just dragging in time and dribble with lethargy. In comparison, Anxiety leaps out of the stalls, nimble and almost chipper - but not quite. These songs are enjoyed because of their slow gestation and sparse serving, like a good ragu.
Debt Collector - a glum reminder of financial ruin or a sweet 'n' lo-fi soundtrack to a slacker's daydreaming? The latter rings truest."
