   About The Quadraphonic All Stars

I'm totally obsessed with analogue synthesizers from the 70's and 80's. I used to work as a recording engineer in the 90's and have been writing songs for many years for my own amusement. With the arrival of the internet, I have been able to find an audience for my music. The response on MySpace has been particularly encouraging. I also have a website.

I have an old school approach to making music. All of the sounds were programmed from scratch using these old machines. The drums and percussion were all produced using a Roland System 100, Sequential Prophet 600, Roland Jupiter 6 (when it worked), and an Akai VX600 prototype. All of the other sounds were various old monophonic Rolands, Siels, Arps, & Moogs and stuff like that. There's a little bit of Doepfer modular in there too. I hope to use this more as I put more modules in it.

Most of my songs were recorded and mixed using either an Atari ST, Korg D1600, Pro tools, or Sonar. I usually use Sonar these days.

However, it isn't just about the machines for me. I love coming up with concepts and lyrics too but I just prefer to use analogue synths to get my ideas across rather than guitars or a piano, both of which I use to write sometimes (and play badly). I grew up listening to synthesizer pioneers like John Foxx and Kraftwerk so that's my thing. I’m not particularly interested in 80’s music per se but I guess there’s no getting away from the association because of the kind of instruments I use.

Electronic music (or any type of music actually) is always at its best when there is a strong concept behind it I think. I’m not interested in musicianship for the sake of musicianship so half hour guitar or synth solos really annoy me.......a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to read this far and I hope you enjoy my music.

New York and Quadra Trax are not good… no…
not good…no... ...

They are
FANTASTIC!!

Quadra Trax
sounds epic…Awesome break FXs between 4.37 and 4.52. You need to get that out
there to a label. You’d be silly to sit on it.

And New York is a hit… I
love the chorus (very catchy too) and the sounds you use in that track!

What has happened
to you? You got married and won the lottery at the same time? Got yourself a
new toy? A new girl friend?

Get those
tracks out there. Try Labels in Germany
too! Because Germans love this kind of electro! Do it!

:-)

Have a
great evening!

Hi Decadentwest, thanks for continuing to be a friend of Electroflex.

Some important news!

Electroflex have been back in the studio following a break from gigging and recording with new track ‘Computer Virus’.

This is the first of a series of new releases for 2009, and what better day to start on than Liz’s Birthday!

‘Computer Virus’ is a live favourite.  Anyone forced to work with computers will know how evil they are and this track is Electroflex’s response to Kraftwerk’s ‘Its More Fun to Compute’.  It is a bouncy number with a serious bassline, sing-along chorus and a selection of curious samples.

The track will only be up on Myspace in full for a short time.  Alternatively, visit our
Facebook
and iLike pages where you can add the song to you playlists

All the best

Jacob and Liz.
