The Decades Band and it's members are influenced by many of the great songs of the 6os. We play music that's catchy, memorable and a crowd favorite. Although we specialize in performing oldies Rock & Roll, Soul, Motown and R&B, the band member's listening tastes are broad and varied.
We grew up listening to all the hit songs being played on the radio, at concerts and bars in the area.
Our song-list includes crowd favorites and standards from Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Everly Brothers, Van Morrison, The Animals, Mitch Ryder, Roy Orbison, The Drifters, Bob Seger, Every Mother's Son, Elvis Presley, The Kinks, Tommy James and the Shondells, Chicago and many other musical groups from the era. We strive for a polished sound, tight vocal harmonies and to have a great time!

Sounds like . . . you should hire us!! The Decades are based in Lima Ohio. We currently play throughout Northwest and West-Central Ohio. The band has been very busy playing Lima area service clubs & Indian Lake Resorts. In addition we'll be playing larger music and convention venues, throughout the year. On August 2nd, 2008, the Decades will be performing at the Lima Square Fair in Lima, Ohio (www.squarfairlima.com). The Decades will be filling the 9pm slot and supporting Lima, hometown musician, Jeff Troy. Immediately following our performance will be American Idol contestant Garrett Haley. Headlining acts, The Ohio Power and the Allstar Mystery Band take the stage at 10pm. Sounds like . . . a great time for all!! We also play private parties and corporate gigs. Rob Huston is the lead guitarist for The Decades. He’s been playing guitar since his teen’s. Rob was a studio musician while living in Los Angeles California, in the 1970’s. He also became the featured guitarist in the traveling, hit musical, Jesus Christ Superstar.
Mike Burden is the bands rhythm guitarist. Like Rob, Mike is one of the ‘original’ Decades members. Mike and Rob formed this earlier version of the band in 1967. They played after-school dances, proms, and parties throughout their teens. It was Mike’s idea to form the new band. He now enjoys playing the classic songs of his formative years with the Decades.
Mike McKinney sets the pace for the band. As the drummer and lead singer, Mike has his hands full during the course of a night. He handles his musical duties with professionalism and rhythmic skill. Mike has been involved in numerous musical endeavors over the past three decades and continues to play today.
Shane Burry plays piano and keyboards for the group. He’s been a musician since childhood, playing piano while still a young boy. Shane is the youngest member of the band but possesses musical skills far beyond his relative youth. Although Shane missed the ‘60s, you’d never know it. From his skill on the keyboards to his flowing hair, he would’ve been a natural to play with any band of that era.
Mike Schipper is the latest addition to our lineup. He will be playing bass, sax, congas and running sound. Mike started his musical journey playing saxophone in 5th grade band, in his hometown of Botkins, Ohio. His first bass was purchased when he was 14 and he’s been playing ever since. One of his favorite pass-times is exploring the sonic possibilities of the cowbell, within a musical setting. This probably explains why he’s still single.
