Interests

  • General

Please go to my webgallery www.deceitful-tranquillity.de for more photos.
  • Music

Metal, Rock, Classical Music, though I do not limit myself to that. It's usually the quality of live performances that catches me and I love bands who have their own unique style. Some bands whose music I have on heavy rotation (alphabetical order): Gojira, Madrugada, Opeth, The BossHoss, The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Volbeat.
  • Movies

    Blues Brothers (1980) / Constantine / Crank / The Dark Knight/ Doomsday / I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK / M (1931) / Natural Born Killers / The Bank Job / The Producers / Serenity / Shoot'Em Up
  • Television

Don't have a TV set and don't watch TV as I consider it pure stultification.
  • Books

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith) / Pandora's Hope (Bruno Latour) / Bilder der Photographie - Ein Album photographischer Metaphern (Bernd Stiegler) / The Sandman (Neil Gaiman) / American Gods (Neil Gaiman) / Kill Your Friends (John Niven) / Skulduggery Pleasant (Derek Landy) / The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (Douglas Adams) / Paradise Lost (John Milton); favourite authors: Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, E.A. Poe
  • Heroes

People who dedicate their life to something (not only music and arts), who follow their dreams even if they might feel like nightmares every now and then.

About me:

I am a photographer, anthropologist and hotel specialist, a daydreamer with many sleepless nights and a tendency to cynicsm and sarcasm. In concert photography I have found the perfect solution to combine my love for photography and music.
My gallery is www.deceitful-tranquillity.de

Some quotations that give an impression about me and photography:

The Photographer and the Maserati
Poem by Solveig L.
Thank you for this wonderful poem, I LOVE it!

"Ich hasse Dich!" (engl: I hate you!)
Comment by a stranger at the GOJIRA gig in Essen 11th April 2009, because he envied me for my 5D Mark II.

"Du brauchst doch gar keine Schwanzprothese!"
First comment I got on my wonderful Canon EOS 5D Mark II with EF 24-70mm/2.8/L USM by Vlad -awesome- Doose at EMERGENCY GATEs ReWake-Pre-Release-Party (the first gig I photographed with this equipment, three days after I got it).

Perspective

"You don't go to places to be there, you just go there to take photos!"
True, in a way photography seems to be more like an addiction than a hobby to me. It's about capturing special moments and sights, things that get blurred or even lost in the mist of memory if you don't retain them. My main interest is in concert photography and I'm doing concert photos and reviews for the german webzine www.metal.de.

In case you are interested you can find photos of most gigs I've attended since spring 2008 in my webgallery www.deceitful-tranquillity.de

Apart from that I study Cultural Anthropology, Intercultural Communications and Philosophy at Munich University LMU. In case you wonder what Cultural Anthropology is, don't worry, it's the first question anthropologists usually hear and the shortest answer/definition is: It is the science of the culturally unknown.
The second question people tend to ask is: What are you going to do with that? The answer is very simple: Get a job (preferably one you like) or end up jobless, just as everybody else...
