The story of (%:DECEPTION:%) is one of great struggle, as a band's constant will to survive and make great music even with a lot of contreversy surrounding the idea. Back in late 2002 , musician Mike Sibley was heavily enfluenced by the many metalheads that lived around him, they got him listening to heavier music , which would give him the idea to form the legendary band. In 2003, after being a member of the progressive punk band "Sonik Force", Mike decided to put that project on hiatus, to help fulfill his dream of being in an old school metal band. He knew just what to do. After doing punk for soooo long though, it would kind of hard for him to switch to metal right away. That quickly changed though when he met local guitarist Chris Lancer, whom was introduced to him by one the metalheads that lived by him. He said that he would like the idea of being part of an old school thrash band. That's pretty much when the band was born. Later, in 2003, Chris would introduce Mike to Damon Doschman, a local bassist and former gangbanger turned clean musician, and with Jim from sonik force on drums, the band lineup would be complete. They started out with many oldschool Metallica, Slayer, Thin Lizzy, and Sabbath covers, but then later from this would come up with their own stuff. They released a 4 song demo through Mike's dad's label, Andrew Records in 2003. Unfortunately later, ....i n 2004 Jim was to go away to a college program with his brother for a few months. Sadddened by the fact that they lost their drummer, and the only one with the ability to play them, it was figured that the dream that Mike has was once lost. This changed though in 2004 when Chris was mowing his lawn one day in the early summer and met Nick Galgano, from Orland Hills. It had only been recently that he had moved to Orland, and Nick was trying 2 find things to do. He noticed that Chris was wearing an Anthrax shirt, which Nick found interesting, and they started talking about music and their favorite bands and stuff. Nick had been playing drums for about a while, taking lessons from his cousin since late 2003, so he'd been playing about a year and 4 months or so at the time, and knew a couple songs, and when Chris found out about this and asked Nick if he'd like to jam with his band, he was delighted to hear Nick Say, "hell yeah bro, I'll play the drums for you guys".
The more that they practiced, the better they got, and the better they sounded. In late 2004 or early 2005, Nick saved up to by his own drumkit, which did many favors to help the practice when they were all at home. Nick later noticed that the music being made by them was lacking in thickness, and depth, and decided to go a quest for a rhytym guitarist. It wouldn't be long b4 he met Tim Kalloway, local stud, and bro turned scene dude. He was a maturing guitarist who's skills were growing at the rate of a gardern weed. NIck asked if he would like to jam with his band, and he decided that if that let him in the band, Tim would do it. This was classic and most sucessful lineup that (%:DECEPTION:%) would ever see. In 2005 they released a 6 song ep entitled "ALL THAT WAS NOT FOUND", which got good reviews by many local fans and "band" critics. This landed them their 1st gig at Mike's uncle's bar downtown in Chicago. Later that year they would play 2 backyard shows in Mike's yard to a decent sized audience of his friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else who showed up at the parties he through. In 2006, they released their full length album "Working Title", a very great and almost enchanting release, 12 songs that were played well beyond recongnition. It would be the only full length release that the band would ever see. In late 2006, Mike started another band, a progressive band called "Recreation", whom he felt that he needed to do to get back in touch with his old friend and fellow bassist/drummer Jim Mandell, so he, Jim and Chris, played in that band for awhile, with (%:DECEPTION:%)'s other members on hiatus. Many complications arose that year, as 2006 and most of 2007 had seen many problems for band members. with all the chaos that was indeed about, everyone kinda lost touch and thought it was over for the band. Later, though, in very late 2007, Nick called up Mike with ideas for songs he had. THis would be the last time that the band would ever play 2gether. They released a 5 track demo, simply entitled "demo '08', which got released via their label. Chris's older brother Pete did guest keyboards on the demo, and mixed it himself, which made it sound really good. After that, it was official due to all the things going on in the member's lives , sense that now they were older and had other things to do, especially with their personal lives at hand. In 2008, it was made official that the band has been laid to rest, but the work of Mike Sibley along with the others would pay off, as it opened new doors 4 many of the members, and sense have explored other music genres. Today, some of the former (%:DECEPTION:%) members live among us in such other local bands as like rECREATION, SoniK Force, Zombies For Gore, N.K.J.C., as well as a few others, let the legend live on and pay some support, Make The Guilty Ones Suffer!
