Dechen Hawk is a musician with fourteen years of writing and performing experience nationwide. He now lives in Boulder, CO where he is studying at the Naropa University. He will acquire his BA in music this coming may at which point he will have a senior recital and CD release. As part of his University education, Dechen spent a 9 month stint in Prague, Czech Republic where he was studying music, the Czech language, and the romantic nature of the Eastern bloc. He kicked off the 2007 Boulder International Fringe Festival at The Laughing Goat Coffeehouse. He continues to write and perform with his blood brother, Josh Stohl, who has helped Dechen to create many of his recorded efforts. He helped to score the film "Djedi," his second collaboration with Right On Brother Productions. His endeavors on the East Coast placed him as a finalist at the 2003 NCSC Songwriters Competition. He has shared the stage with such artists as Ty Burhoe, the Fun Lovin' Criminals and R.E.M. His 2003 project "Sleeping With The Enemy" included a violinist from Page & Plant's European Tour in '95. He has also studied under and performed with the renowned Bill Douglas. Dechen Hawk's music can be seen on Swedish Television as it is featured in the documentary film "No Artificial Anything," brought to you by the folks at Right On Brother Productions straight out of Brooklyn's well-known artist district. Dechen performed at the 2003 Indy Music Awards and was called a "singer-songwriter with an edge" by the Independent Weekly. Dechen also appeared performing on the local hit reality T.V. show "What's Your Problem" out of Manhattan in which he was performing live in Central Park. His music is also featured in a new indy film "Don Juan's Diary" out of Boulder, CO. Though a balladeer at heart, Dechen Hawk's musical stylings range to include ambient rock, serious get up get down funk, sultry vocal laden jazz standards, timeless folk creations, and to top it all off an R&B honey dipped soul that screams, "That's right, my momma rocked me to sleep to Stevie Wonder!"
